Watney develops autonomous robots to enable the growth of critical infrastructure. Having recently raised $21 million in seed funding from Conviction, Abstract and A*, we’re partnering with the world’s largest hyperscalers to accelerate datacenter buildout and breakfix.
Join now for a ground-floor seat with outsized ownership and visibility as we scale from prototype to production fleets. Ship real systems, shape the rollout playbook, and leave fingerprints on a category-defining robotics company.
The RoleYou’ll be the engineering-minded operator who makes deployments work end-to-end for customers—owning systems integration, go-live, and steady-state performance. If you’ve shipped code, debugged logs, and later found yourself running field ops and customer programs, this role lets you use both toolboxes. Convert pilots to production by showcasing the full, human-like capabilities of Watney’s robots—delivering valuable, real tasks at scale and demonstrating a breadth no other vendor can match.
What You’ll DoRun deployments end-to-end: site surveys, security/network reviews, integration mapping, staged rollouts, cutovers.
Build the ops machine: stand up runbooks/SOPs/dashboards; own uptime, task accuracy, MTTR/MTBF, quality; drive RCA and fixes.
Close the loop: turn field findings into crisp requirements for autonomy/controls/teleops; prioritize changes that move metrics.
Be the customer face: align operators/IT/execs on SLAs and acceptance; earn trust on-site and on calls.
Make it repeatable: package playbooks + reusable integrations to scale from first sites → dozens → global.
Ship integrations that stick: connect robots to DCIM/CMMS (ServiceNow), ticketing, inventory, IAM/SSO, networks/VLANs, observability; define/deliver APIs, schemas, webhooks, and queues (REST/gRPC, JSON, Kafka/MQTT).
Customer-first operator (5–10 yrs): led high-stakes deployments/programs; measure success by outcomes, not activity.
Executive presence: set expectations, run crisp updates, influence without authority.
White-glove delivery: choreograph readiness and cutovers; define acceptance; deliver Day-1 value.
Orchestration & rigor: plans, RAID, RACIs, calendars, dashboards; keep parallel workstreams on track.
Calm in chaos: triage, decide, land fixes; turn chaos into closure.
Eng → Ops fluency: translate between customers, ops, and engineering; concise writing, clean status, tight post-mortems.
KPI-driven: own uptime, success rate, quality, response times; drive weekly rhythms and continuous improvement.
Technical fluency (just enough): APIs/auth/networks/data pipelines; light scripting/log reading; Linux/containers/CI; observability.
Own the outcome: your work decides pilot → production at hyperscale.
High visibility: direct line to founders and customer leadership.
Build for scale: turn bespoke deployments into a repeatable, global rollout.
Real impact: automate critical work in the world’s compute backbone.
Travel: 50%-90% domestic travel to customer sites during pilot phases.
We’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive team. At Watney Robotics, we welcome people of all backgrounds and identities, and we make hiring decisions based on skills, experience, and potential. If you’re passionate about robotics but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply!
