What is this position about?  

We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our team and take a leading role in building and optimizing complex data infrastructure. This individual will drive the development of data lakes, ETL pipelines, and data processing systems, leveraging GCP technologies to ensure the efficient handling of large datasets. As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for setting technical direction and providing leadership to the data engineering team. 

• Lead the design and development of data lakes, ETL pipelines, and large-scale data processing systems. 

• Architect and implement robust data systems for data ingestion, transformation, and storage. 

• Collaborate closely with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to ensure seamless integration of data systems with business requirements. 

• Guide the team in optimizing data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability on GCP. 

• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and drive technical best practices within the team. 

• Work with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that improve data accessibility, quality, and usability. 

• Stay updated on the latest trends in data engineering, ETL processes, and cloud technologies. 

• Studies in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 

• Extensive experience as a Senior Data Engineer, with a focus on data lakes and complex ETL pipelines. 

• Proficiency in Python and experience with data processing frameworks (e.g., Databricks). 

• Hands-on experience with GCP, especially data-related services (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, etc.). 

• Deep understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, and ETL architectures. 

• Proven ability to lead a team of engineers in building scalable and reliable data systems. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment. 

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 

  Preferred: 

• Experience with real-time data processing and streamlining data workflows. 

• Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance in cloud environments.

You will need excellent written and verbal English for clear and effective communication with the team. 

How much experience must I have? 

In order to thrive in this role, you must have at least 5+ years of experience in similar roles.
