Our Engineering team is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to focus on building scalable and maintainable data pipelines that empower self-service analytics across our product, data science, coaching, finance, and leadership teams. You will design and implement systems that simplify data workflows, improve documentation, and ensure efficient data processing at scale. Your expertise in Python, SQL, Airflow, and pipeline optimization will be key in building a robust, reliable data platform that meets the needs of both technical and non-technical users.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead the migration of data infrastructure from Redshift to Databricks.
- Build scalable, maintainable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Airflow, improving existing complex logic to increase performance and reliability.
- Partner with Data Science, Product, Coaching, and Finance teams to deliver intuitive, domain-specific data sets, pipelines, and models.
- Support the transition to a self-service data model by designing simplified data pipelines and improving documentation and workflows.
- Provide operational support for data infrastructure, ensuring pipelines are reliable, secure, and cost-efficient.
- Collaborate with Analytics and Data Science teams to design standardized data models for business reporting.
- Design and implement best practices around data security, access, and storage, ensuring compliance with legal requirements regarding PII and PHI data.
- Build automation and tooling that simplifies the process for developers to publish and users to consume data.
- Serve as a mentor to junior engineers, helping them grow and write clean, maintainable code.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong expertise in Python and SQL for data processing and pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience with Airflow for orchestrating complex data workflows.
- Proven track record of building scalable data infrastructure and optimizing data pipelines.
- A strong understanding of Databricks, with experience in Redshift a plus!
- Knowledge of data modeling and experience working with BI tools like Looker.
- Experience with designing self-service models, improving documentation, and creating workflows that are user-friendly for non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to create well-organized, intuitive domain-specific ontologies or data models.
- Familiarity with data security best practices and legal requirements related to PII and PHI data.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience collaborating with Data Science and Machine Learning teams.
- Experience building pipelines that support advanced analytics and ML workflows.
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing engineering talent.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and work with cross-functional stakeholders to drive projects to completion.

Base Salary:
- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $179,000- $242,000.
- The range displayed on each job posting is based on Noom’s estimate as of the date of publication and reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position across all US locations. The actual placement of the candidate within the range is based on factors including but not limited to relevant experience, assessment of functional skills and behavioral competencies, and scope. This range is not inclusive of any discretionary bonus or equity package.
