As Lead Counsel – India (Platform/Regulatory), you will assist Roblox on existing and emerging online safety laws and regulations in India and how to handle them efficiently to help grow our presence in India. You will understand the impact of these laws on our product and operations, suggesting on regulations concerning online safety and consumer protection issues in India. You will help support a cross-functional response to legal obligations in India, including developing appropriate procedures to ensure Roblox’s compliance with applicable jurisdiction.
With a primary focus on India, this role reports to the Lead Counsel - APAC (Platform/Regulatory) and may occasionally involve additional ad-hoc support in other APAC regions. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, collaboratively with all company partners, and help lead external counsel in India.
You Will:
- Assist on existing, pending, and developing regulations along with identifying new trends affecting Roblox in India
- Develop and implement procedures, policies and programs aligned to the local laws & regulations
- Analyze and research critical legal issues and translate such research and analysis into practical advice
- Respond to requests for compliance advice from engineering, products and marketing teams concerning time-sensitive communications and product releases
- Provide ad-hoc support across other APAC jurisdictions, as vital.
You Have:
- 10+ years of relevant legal experience (e.g., online gaming, online safety, privacy, social media, or content regulations);
- License to practice law in India;
- Track record of creative problem-solving with limited supervision, handling critical issues and multiple cross-functional partners.
- Critical judgment skills and the ability to analyze problems, propose solutions, and provide practical advice, taking into account the needs and objectives of the business;
- Ability to work well with a small, tightly knit team and able to handle a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues;
- Experience with applicable platform regulatory compliance requirements
