Disney Entertainment & ESPN's Product Design team is seeking a Lead Content Strategist who will be an outstanding role model to our growing team. You will lead our user experience and product messaging efforts across the DE&ET portfolio of services, crafting through language, using words to tackle problems. The goal of this job is to take our global brands and services and breathe life through the smallest details of the user experience, threading them all together to tell a cohesive story that is inclusive and resonates with millions of users around the world.
As a Content Strategist for global products, a deep understanding of localization standard methodologies and considerations is key to this role. The ideal candidate will have experience in the importance of authentic written language and cultural nuances. This role is part communicator, part content strategist; and will call for a proven track record of bringing projects to life from concept to execution. Has the ability to seamlessly collaborate with design, product, research, marketing, and engineering teams in order to provide the best solutions possible.
Responsibilities:

  • Care deeply about building a brand and product experience that is inclusive and feels authentic to our global users.
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including product, design, and marketing teams, to find clear and relevant product content and messaging solutions.
  • Leverage analytics and data to optimize copy through experimentation.
  • Govern and maintain a UX Copy glossary for consistency, upholding brand voice and tone as well as maintaining best practices.
  • Act as a writing-for-localization SME for the rest of the team, providing guidance, documenting, and socializing standard processes.
  • Work directly with regional tech ops and linguists to ensure translation quality.
  • Write technical documentation outlining processes and rationale.
  • Monitor metrics related to our content, like click through and conversion rates.
  • Research industry-related topics and identify gaps in our content.
  • Actively participate in feedback loops from crits to 1:1s.


Required Skills:

  • BS in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or relevant field required.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience as a UX Writer or similar role at consumer-focused tech or media companies.
  • A portfolio showcasing exceptional execution, from process to outcomes.
  • Experience working directly on an international product.
  • Experience writing for multiple platforms and marketing lifecycle touchpoints.
  • Excellent user experience writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Able to think and write holistically across brand experiences, and also zoom in and add meaning to the smallest detail.
  • Collaborative, working well within a team environment with direction and accountability.
  • Adaptable and receptive to feedback.
  • Comfortable speaking with internal stakeholders, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Organized and meticulous, carefully reviewing your work at all stages.
  • Proactive in communicating and documenting project progress, status, and workload.
  • Up to date with emerging content strategy/ux writing trends and technologies.


The hiring range for this position in [location] is $142,600 to $191,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
