Pyyne is seeking a Lead AI Backend Engineer to work as a consultant out of our South American Office. This is a high-impact role for Pyyne as we build up our Applied AI services and continue to create real business value for our clients.
A successful candidate in this role will be comfortable working with non-technical stakeholders to map current business workflows and pain points into real AI-powered solutions. They will be responsible for every step of the process, from client discovery and business analysis to building and deploying the identified solution.
This is a highly client-facing role and ideal for a great engineer who loves working with people. This is a remote role!
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the end-to-end design of an AI-powered financial services solution, from architecture decisions through to production deployment
Translate financial domain requirements into scalable backend systems, ensuring compliance, data integrity, and auditability standards are met
Own technical delivery: define the solution architecture, select appropriate AI/LLM components, and drive build execution with a high degree of autonomy
Collaborate with client stakeholders to validate solution design against real business outcomes and iterate based on feedback
Identify realistic AI automation opportunities — and just as importantly, tell clients when AI isn't the right tool
Prioritize a roadmap of opportunities based on feasibility, ROI, and client readiness
Maintain trust with clients by setting honest expectations and delivering on them
Senior-level experience in Python backend engineering (~6+YoE)
Strong communication skills, with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience building or implementing RAG architectures
Experience working with data lakes
Experience working in structured, production environments
Fluent English, Native or near native level
Background in the Financial Services sector
