Overview:
The Lead, Android Software Developer is crucial to Prodege and plays a strategic part in scaling Prodege’s mobile development efforts while fostering innovation and quality in Android projects by leading and optimizing the performance of an offshore Android development team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and user-centric applications. This role will set and enforce technical standards, including best practices in code architecture and performance optimization, ensuring alignment with Prodege’s product vision. The role also requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to harmonize technical and business objectives, while driving continuous improvement in both development practices and team efficiency.

Primary Objectives:

Success in the Lead, Android Software Developer role will be demonstrated by leading an efficient offshore Android development team that consistently delivers high-quality, scalable applications aligned with Prodege’s strategic product vision. The Lead, Android Software Developer will establish and maintain high technical standards, ensuring robust code architecture and performance optimization, while fostering continuous improvement across the team. Effective cross-functional collaboration will ensure alignment between technical and business objectives, driving seamless project execution. Timely delivery of key projects, accompanied by clear communication and reporting to senior leadership, will also be key markers of success. Overall, innovation, quality, and the team's ability to stay ahead of industry trends will reflect a successful performance in this role.
The MUST Haves: (ex: job cannot be done without these skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)
- Five or more (5+) years of experience in Android development, with a strong understanding of Java, Kotlin, and the Android ecosystem.
- Proven experience in leading and managing offshore teams.
- Expertise in design patterns, Android frameworks and Material Design Guidelines.
- Strong experience in code review and setting coding standards for quality, security, and maintainability.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and effectively.
- Experience with agile methodologies and tools like JIRA or Trello for project management.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Google Play deployment processes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, balancing technical and business needs.
The Nice to Haves: (preferred additional skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field of study is preferred.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and backend integration.
- Prior work with offshore teams in a distributed development environment.
- Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure like AWS or GCP.
Pay Transparency:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include, but are not limited to; the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, the type and length of knowledge and skills for the position, education, training, etc. Prodege is a multi-state employer and final compensation within this range could be impacted by work location. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
