Platform Science is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Android Developer to drive the evolution of our flagship mobile applications. In this role, you will be a technical lighthouse for the Chennai team—acting as a mentor, architect, and hands-on developer. You will be responsible for shaping the future of our mobile products by implementing high-performance, scalable solutions that serve the global transportation industry.

• Technical Leadership & Architecture: Lead the architectural design of complex Android applications; define and enforce patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture) to ensure long-term scalability and performance.

• Hands-on Development: Develop high-quality applications using Kotlin and modern Android architecture components; integrate RESTful APIs and backend services while maintaining clean, well-documented code.

• Mentorship & Collaboration: Provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level developers; conduct rigorous code reviews and foster a collaborative environment with cross-functional product and design teams.

• Quality & Testing: Enforce a strict culture of automated testing (unit, integration, and UI tests) and collaborate with QA to resolve complex technical bottlenecks and performance issues.

• Continuous Innovation: Stay at the forefront of Android trends; proactively propose improvements to development workflows, tools, and strategic technical roadmaps.

Required Experience

• 8-10 years of professional experience in Android application development.

• Expert proficiency in Kotlin and the Android SDK.

• Deep understanding of Android Architecture Components (ViewModel, LiveData, Room, etc.).

• Strong experience with Reactive Programming (Coroutines, Flows) and Dependency Injection (preferably Koin).

• Proficiency in writing comprehensive tests using JUnit, Espresso, and MockK.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git/GitHub.

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Jetpack Compose.

• Familiarity with Firebase services (Analytics, Crashlytics, Firestore) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Previous experience leading a team of developers and using Jira.

• Knowledge of Google Play Store deployment and optimization.

• Strategic Thinker: Ability to evaluate and select frameworks that optimize long-term development workflows.

• Collaborative Leader: Strong communication skills with a passion for knowledge sharing and mentoring others.

• Problem Solver: Excellent debugging skills with a focus on optimizing application performance.
