Summary:

Prepare and support reconciliation, and other analyses as part of the regulatory reporting. Ensure accuracy of submissions reconciled to general ledger and/or statutory reports within process and postmortem audits. Participate in the development and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting and process improvements to streamline the reporting and review process. Support business processes by partnering with Accounting, Statutory Accounting, FP&A, Pricing, IT, Operations, and other internal business departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Request and review accounting schedules for support materials which are aligned to regulatory guidelines for all State reporting.
  • Assist with entries into state software as needed and perform audits or submitted data.
  • Build metric based reporting for leadership review and perform off-cycle internal team reviews.
  • Perform peer reviews of all support materials and reconciliation narrative for each State reporting submission.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to ensure compliance with State regulatory changes.
  • Streamline the supporting documentation timeline through automation to eliminate manual processes and improve efficiencies.
  • Continue realignment of responsibilities and cross-training to address close-critical bottlenecks or gaps in reporting and reconciliations.
  • Ability to source data from internal systems (Oracle/Hyperion) or data warehouse to support automation, reconciliation, and State reporting.
  • Lead Compliance and State audit requests and lead internal efforts to ensure timely completion.
  • Engage and influence with team members and other departments.
  • Enhance and develop new analysis and reconciliation support as State guidelines change.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; MBA/MSA preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • 5 - 8+ years of experience in finance and accounting environment required
  • 2+ years of experience in public accounting preferred
  • Health insurance industry experience preferred
  • Proficiency with MSOffice (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) required
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud or similar financial software required
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and Statutory Accounting required
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal) with all types/levels of audiences required
