How You'll Shape What's Possible:
This role leads our legal and compliance function, ensuring we meet our contractual, regulatory, and risk obligations while supporting the business to move forward with confidence. You’ll guide the review, negotiation, and management of a wide range of commercial agreements, offering clear and practical advice that helps our people make informed decisions aligned with our risk appetite and delegation of authority. You’ll also play a key role in strengthening and evolving our legal and compliance frameworks, policies, and documentation so the organisation continues to operate with clarity, integrity, and assurance.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Lead the review and management of commercial, supplier, partner, and government contracts.
- Provide clear, practical summaries of legal terms, risks, and business impacts.
- Support and participate in contract negotiations with external parties.
- Manage escalation and approval processes in line with delegation of authority.
- Maintain and enhance legal and compliance frameworks, policies, templates, and playbooks.
- Prepare and manage documentation required for internal and external compliance.
- Monitor legislative changes and advise on required business updates.
- Provide legal support across investigations, disputes, and general advisory matters.
- Conduct or support compliance audits and deliver required reporting.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to the corporate risk register and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Deliver training and promote awareness of compliance obligations and frameworks.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across legal and compliance processes.
- Champion an information‑security‑first culture across the organisation.
The Knowledge You Bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in commercial law or a related field, with a strong focus on contract management, negotiation, and risk management.
- Experience in sectors relevant to the company (e.g., technology, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, telecommunications) is preferred.
- Proven track record in drafting, reviewing, and successfully negotiating various types of commercial contracts.

Altis is the largest and most experienced Data and Analytics consulting firm in Australia and New Zealand, with over 150 permanent staff, focused on delivering tangible business outcomes.
Altis was founded in 1998 by Hyun Choi and Gavin Cooke, with a vision to grow a living company that would continue to be prosperous in the face of whatever the future held. They were not building a business to sell, rather they were fostering a culture that could grow with the modern world.
And as Altis did grow, its core ethos developed out of this family foundation. ‘Connecting with Courage, Heart, and Insight’ became the central framework for how Altis operated. In simple terms, it meant a commitment to our team, our clients and our community. Our drive came from building lasting relationships, sharing responsibility and reaching goals together. Even as we’ve continued to expand into Data and Analytics, we’ve held onto this ethos, always putting people first, business second.
