Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Landman to support our clients on a project basis. This role is ideal for an independent contractor with a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant title and land experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly supporting operator, acquisition, and due diligence projects.
You’ll work as a 1099 contractor, managing your schedule and deliverables independently while collaborating with client and EPC teams to meet project goals and deadlines.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct record title research for assigned properties and projects
Examine record title for properties of interest to EPC’s clients
Construct, analyze, and validate chains of title
Review and interpret oil and gas leases, well files, and regulatory documentation
Interpret leases, assignments, JOAs, PSAs, unit agreements, farm-ins, and related land contracts
Identify title defects and recommend curative actions
Calculate mineral interest, royalty interest, working interest, and net revenue interest with precision
Prepare clear, professional, client-ready title reports and supporting documentation
Conduct leasing and acquisition support through professional email and phone communications
Maintain defensible, audit-ready work product with strong documentation practices
Communicate questions, title issues, and project blockers early to support timely delivery
Collaborate with EPC and client teams to meet project milestones and deadlines
5+ years of Landman, title research, or due diligence experience in the oil and gas industry
Strong experience supporting operated assets, due diligence projects, or E&P environments preferred
Advanced understanding of title analysis, chain construction, and ownership calculations
Proven ability to identify title defects and recommend appropriate curative paths
Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong time management and accountability
Highly responsive and proactive in communication with internal and client-facing teams
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to defensible, audit-ready work product
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Adaptable and comfortable working within project-based timelines and fluctuating workloads
