On behalf of one of its clients, a consultancy company in Engineering & Technology, the French Chamber of Commerce is looking for a Laboratory Manager.
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Laboratory Manager to join their team. This role is crucial in maintaining the organisation’s accreditations and quality management system through effective equipment management, metrological traceability, and quality assurance/control of laboratory processes and testing.
The Laboratory Manager will work closely with the Operations Director and Quality team to maintain ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, demonstrating the organisation’s technical competency and commitment to providing consistently valid results.
Key Responsibilities
Lab Operations:
• Oversee day-to-day activities and manage a team to ensure smooth, safe, and cost-effective lab operations
• Upkeep and monitor lab conditions to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
• Manage licenses and ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment in the lab
• Handle procurement of lab equipment and consumables, as well as replenishment of laboratories supplies
• Monitor, manage and report budget usage for the laboratory and assist in financial reporting and budget projections and planning
• Plan, coordinate and perform calibration, troubleshoot equipment performance issues, as well as liaising with external service providers
Quality & Safety:
• Maintain quality assurance procedures and the quality management system in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017
• Perform internal audits, address non-conformities, and support the lab in maintaining accreditation status
• Manage lab safety, enforce safety rules, and ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Conduct safety orientation for new employees
• Serve as First Aider, Fire Warden, Spill Responder, Safety Committee member
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science, Materials, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge on local regulatory requirements (NIOSH, APM or MCDF, NEA, MOHR, etc) preferred
- Experience and knowledge in risk management, workplace safety and health
- Experience in procurement and budget management to facilitate budget preparation
- Experience in Emergency Response Team is a plus
- Knowledge in ISO/IEC 17020:2012 is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Self-motivated, confident, and capable of working independently as well as leading a team.
Skills Required
