EMSL Canada is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Saint-Laurent, QB. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Devoirs et responsabilités essentiels:
Préparation et analyse de matériaux en vrac et solides pour la teneur en amiante à l’aide de la microscopie à lumière polarisée (PLM), de la microscopie à contraste de phase (PCM) et/ou de la microscopie électronique à transmission (MET), ainsi que de toutes les procédures auxiliaires de contrôle de la qualité
Détermination du pourcentage visuel et des propriétés optiques des matériaux amiante et non amiant
Nettoyer, entretenir et dépanner l’équipement de laboratoire au besoin
Générer des rapports analytiques et saisir des données dans le système LIMS Appliquer les pratiques de contrôle de la qualité conformément au manuel d’assurance de la qualité et de contrôle de la qualité de l’entreprise.
 Tâches administratives comprenant l'entrer d’échantillons et leur données, la numérisation et l’envoi de rapports par courriel, et la répondre au téléphone.
 Autres responsabilités jugées nécessaires par le gérant.

Qualifications

Requirements:
2 year diploma in Geology or related science is required  
Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred
Some Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting
0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis 
Bilingual in English and French
Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance
Ability to travel for training to another EMSL location either to U.S. and/or Canada 



Available Shift:
Position is full-time, Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

EMSL Canada offers supplemental benefits and paid time off. The pay rate for this position is $23.00 per hour.

Exigences:
Un diplôme de deux ans en géologie ou dans une discipline scientifique connexe est requis
exigé en microscopie optique, en minéralogie optique/microscope pétrographique, de préférence
Une certaine expérience en laboratoire dans un cadre universitaire ou commercial
 0 à 1 an d’expérience dans la réalisation d’analyses PLM/TEM/PCM d’amiante Bilingue en anglais et en français
Capacité à distinguer les couleurs afin d’effectuer des analyses
Capacité à travailler de manière indépendante et en équipe, motivation personnelle, capacité d’adaptation et attitude positive
Gestion efficace du temps, compétences organisationnelles et capacité à effectuer plusieurs tâches à la fois et à établir des priorités avec un minimum d’aide Possibilité de se déplacer pour la formation vers un autre emplacement EMSL aux États-Unis et/ou au Canada. 

 

Quart de travail disponible:
Le poste est à temps plein, du lundi au vendredi, de 9 h 00 à 17 h 30.
