ROLE DESCIPTION SUMMARY
The L2 Operations Services Engineer plays a critical role in supporting SES's Fixed Data services, with a focus on both MEO Classic and mPOWER constellations. This position is responsible for executing installation and commissioning activities from the moment of the site installation to the NOC handover, handling escalations from the Network Operations Centre (NOC), and acting as the operational voice within the organization. The engineer will identify and analyze trends in equipment performance, escalate issues to vendors or SES terminal engineering teams, and drive the implementation of fixes into the production network. A key part of the role is ensuring strict adherence to SES's Change Management and Incident Management processes, maintaining operational stability and compliance. This role demands strong technical acumen, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive mindset to ensure service reliability and continuous improvement.
primary responsibilities
- Execute installation and commissioning activities for SES Fixed Data services, with a focus on MEO Classic and mPOWER platforms.
- Provide Level 2 support for escalations from the Network Operations Centre (NOC), ensuring timely resolution and communication.
- Act as the operational voice within the organization by identifying service-impacting trends, analyzing recurring issues, and escalating to vendors or SES terminal engineering as needed.
- Drive the implementation of fixes and improvements into the production network, ensuring minimal disruption and alignment with operational standards.
- Ensure full compliance with SES's Change Management and Incident Management processes, including accurate documentation, risk assessment, and post-implementation reviews.
- Ensure full compliance with the ZOI (Zero Outage Initiative) process.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, service delivery, and vendor support to maintain service quality and operational readiness.
- Maintain detailed records of operational activities, incidents, and resolutions to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Gather, organize, and analyze large amounts of data with speed and accuracy to effectively resolve issues and ensure high level of customer satisfaction
- Planning of platform and terminal resources and scheduling for activation
- Performance tracking and reporting of platforms and terminals
- Ensure readiness of platforms for service activations/changes/deactivations
- Participate in on-call rotations and support readiness for critical incident response and recovery efforts.

Working conditions
- Willingness to work on call ROTA schedule.
Qualifications & Experience
- Highschool / Vocational schools/ Certifications Studies in Telecommunications, Information Technology coupled with min. 4 years of experience or Engineering University degree
- Fluent in English (written and verbal)
Mandatory
- Experience in managing IP Addresses
- Knowledge of troubleshooting operating systems (Windows, Linux)
- Experience using network automation tools and technologies
- Strong understanding of RF Technologies and Antenna systems (Intellian, Viasat, GD, Orbit, AVL)
- Knowledge of Network Management Systems
- Technical support experience in the satellite or wireless communications industry
- Knowledge of the Satellite or Telecommunications / Satellite industry
- Knowledge of MEO and GEO satcom services
- Experience of setting up satellite links in point to point or point to multi-point
- Knowledge of VSAT based satellite services
- Understanding of link budget analysis
