About the Role

The Springer Nature General Counsel’s Office (GCO) is made up of seven teams which together form a trusted partner to the business. Comprising Anti-Piracy, Corporate Legal and Company Secretariat, Data Protection, Governance Risk and Compliance, Legal, and GCO Strategy & Operations, the GCO contributes to the sustainable success of Springer Nature by providing expert advice and supporting strategic ambitions whilst protecting our businesses and reputation.

The Knowledge & Learning Lead will be responsible for shaping and delivering the learning, development, and knowledge strategy for the General Counsel’s Office (GCO). Reporting to the Director of Legal Advisory & Transformation, you will own flagship initiatives including the GCO Academy, the GCO Learning Lab, and the Knowledge base within the Digital GCO.

This is a specialist role that ensures GCO colleagues have the skills, knowledge, and digital resources needed to deliver best-in-class services, and that the business can self-serve guidance wherever possible. You will design and implement innovative approaches to professional development, knowledge management, and digital enablement — embedding a culture of continuous learning and collaboration across the GCO.

The position is offered on a full-time permanent basis. It is based in our London office on a hybrid working model.

Role responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and oversee the GCO training platforms, delivering learning programmes
  •  Partner with internal stakeholders and external providers to create content that enhances legal, commercial, and business skills.
  • Work with HR colleagues on the GCO Talent and Development Hub, providing a platform for experimentation, knowledge-sharing, and innovation
  • Lead the design and delivery of the Digital GCO, ensuring legal knowledge and resources are accessible, user-friendly, and aligned to business needs
  • Develop and maintain frameworks for capturing, storing, and sharing legal and operational knowledge
  • Govern the full knowledge lifecycle, ensuring content is accurate, current, and retired when obsolete.
  • Promote a knowledge-sharing culture within the GCO, ensuring insights and best practice are easily available

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Strong background in learning & development, knowledge management, or professional development (ideally in a legal or professional services environment).
  • Experience designing and delivering training programmes or academies.
  • Familiarity with knowledge management principles, tools, and digital platforms.
  • Ability to work independently, managing multiple initiatives without direct reports.
  • The ability to partner with law firms to understand what value they can deliver into us as an organisation and to realise that value.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging content, with strong presentation skills

Desirable

  • Experience within a corporate legal department or professional services firm.
  • Exposure to digital learning platforms, intranets, or knowledge portals.
  • Familiarity with innovation or change-management programmes.
