RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and supervise the Cost Accounting transaction processing and ensure delivery quality in terms of accuracy, completeness and timeliness on a daily basis.
- Stakeholder's first point of contact on Cost Accounting topics in the region (key contact and first-level support).
- Review and provide guidance in performing account reconciliation when required.
- Ensure that closing timelines meet the Group Corporate requirements
- Execute month end close steps, quarter & year end close activities in accordance with work instructions and month end closing checklist
- Co-ordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and coordinate with Local Services and other Financial Services functional teams to ensure timely and accurate closure of accounts for Evonik companies across Asia Pacific and EMEA region in accordance with work instructions and SmartClose checklist.
- Perform troubleshooting of issues and challenges related to Cost Accounting processes
- Ensure all related Internal Control Systems been implemented in Cost Accounting processes according to the control guideline and execution of remediation plan to be in place, if any
- Establish and maintain strong working relationship as well as liaise with Local Services, other teams within the SSC and Center of Excellence
- Coordinate on the changes of work instructions, standard operating procedures and documentation for local specific variances
- Supporting Local Services in terms of internal and external audit
- Ensure queries are attended to and resolved in a timely, responsible and proactive manner
- Support Center of Excellence new initiatives in Cost Accounting process.
- Continuously support in implementing process improvement and harmonization in areas of operation internally
- Support and align on standardization across regions and globally by focusing on alignment of end to end business process areas in the Cost Accounting function
- Undertake any other assignments / projects that may be assigned from time to time
- To monitor and ensure the new system testing, integration/ functional testing are completed on time to minimize potential problems to operations.
- Serve as decentral role-coordinator for the Cost Accounting process cluster roles in SSC APAC.
- Able to coach and provide guidance / solutions if there are issues faced by the Cost Accounting team on work related matters. Identify skill gap and develop upskilling training for the team.
- Perform back up duty including for Team Lead on daily task and as and when required.
- Support and participate in hiring process, resource planning, boarding process and knowledge retention for the team.
- Support in improving productivity of Cost Accounting by conducting relevant benchmarking exercise and monitoring through Key Performance indexes.
- In the absence of the Team Lead, the Key Accountant may be asked to take over the leadership and reports to the Functional Manager directly.
- Support on resolving accounting issues in consultation with the Team Lead / Functional Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Education, Certification and/or relevant experience required
- Holds a Degree or Professional Qualification in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience in product costing, inventory management will be an advantage.
- Minimum 6-7 years of relevant working experience with at least 1 year in leadership capacity.
Additional skills and abilities required for this position
- Strong communications skills both verbal and written in English.
- Proficiency in languages would be an added advantage depending on the individual assignment, different language skills will be required.
- A team player, meticulous, able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
Technical Knowledge (E.g. specialized knowledge required to perform all the required tasks)
- Knowledge and understanding of IFRS, Cost Accounting process and other accounting functions
- Computer literate and competent in Microsoft office, preferably have experience in SAP – FICO Module
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - able to identify and troubleshoot system issues.
Others (if required by the position)
- Candidates assigned to support the APAC and EMEA regions and work according to the relevant shift hours (if required)
- Exposure to manufacturing or shared service environment would be preferred.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well both independently and in a team orientated environment
