Job Description

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the role

This is an opportunity to take a newly focused commercial role and help shape how Whakarongorau grows its impact across Aotearoa. As Key Account Development Manager, you will build trusted relationships with priority customers, identify new opportunities, and connect customer needs with the services, expertise and innovation Whakarongorau can bring.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will work closely with Executive leaders, operational teams and subject matter experts to identify, shape and progress opportunities that support commercial growth and improved customer outcomes. You will be close to the conversations shaping future health and social services, helping Whakarongorau respond in ways that are clinically sound, commercially sustainable and meaningful for communities.

Through structured account planning, stakeholder engagement, opportunity development and procurement activity, you’ll help position Whakarongorau as a trusted partner within the health and social sector, including Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora, ACC and the Ministry of Social Development. You will act as a connector between customers and internal teams, turning insights, opportunities and market intelligence into future services, partnerships and sustainable growth.

  • Develop and maintain account plans that support growth across priority customer organisations.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Identify, assess, and progress opportunities for service expansion, new offerings, and strategic partnerships.
  • Lead and coordinate procurement activity, including proposals, tenders, and funding opportunities.
  • Maintain a pipeline of opportunities and support their progression from concept through to implementation.
  • Gather and share customer, market, and sector intelligence to inform commercial planning and decision-making.
  • Coordinate engagement and opportunity development activities across commercial, operational, clinical, and digital teams.
  • Support the successful positioning of Whakarongorau as a trusted and valued partner within the health and social sectors.

You are a relationship-led commercial professional who enjoys opening doors, understanding what matters to customers, and turning possibilities into practical opportunities. You are confident working across complex stakeholder environments and know how to bring people with you, even when priorities are competing or the path forward is still forming.

You may come from account development, business development, partnerships, commercial development or a related role. What matters most is that you can build trust, spot opportunities, progress ideas, and work across teams to turn insight into action.

You will be motivated by work that combines commercial growth with social impact, and by the chance to help shape innovative health and social services for communities across Aotearoa.

Ōu wheako ōu mātauranga hoki | Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in account management, business development, partnership management, commercial development or a related field
  • Experience working with government agencies, health organisations or other complex stakeholder environments
  • Demonstrated success identifying, shaping and progressing growth opportunities
  • Experience supporting proposals, tenders, procurement activity or commercial initiatives
  • Proven ability to build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
