Job Type: Part-Time (15-20 hours weekly), Hourly

Under the general supervision of the Justice for Families Program Coordinator, provides supervision and oversight for families utilizing the OVW Justice for Families supervised visitation and safe exchange program in Anderson County. Provides supervision for families who have a history of domestic violence in order to ensure a safe, secure environment for visitation and exchanges to occur. Delivers non-judgmental services with an emphasis on healthy relationships and healing from violence in a safe and supportive environment.

Services will be provided at the Oak Ridge site of YWCA Knoxville and the Tennessee Valley. This position will require consistent evening and weekend hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Using knowledge of YWCA programs and policies, promotes YWCA Knoxville and the Tennessee Valley’s Mission Statement in the community and interacts with other YWCA personnel, volunteers, and staff to meet the goals of the program. Participates in YWCA activities as required.
  • Recruits, develops, and maintains positive relationships with community partners including court personnel. Ensures successful execution of programming focused on safety, empowerment, and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence.
  • Provides trauma-informed supervision and coordination to families who have experienced violence within their relationships. Documents observations during visits and exchanges. Intervenes during the visits or exchanges if a parent’s behavior becomes unsafe for the child(ren). Reports all incidents of suspected child abuse or neglect to Program Coordinator, as well as following all mandated reporting policies.
  • Provides a safe environment for families by upholding all security policies and procedures. Keeps the visitation center clean and orderly and prepares the visitation center prior to families arriving. Ensures age-appropriate items are available prior to visits.
  • Assists in visitation scheduling utilizing best practices and guiding principles of supervised visitation programming. Conducts intake interviews with new clients and facilities goal planning with participants using a trauma-informed approach, in addition to assessing for appropriateness for services.
  • Maintains professional relationships with parents, family members, and children. Treats all family members with respect and without judgement. Participates in ongoing assessment and evaluation of the family’s goals. Provides verbal feedback to families regarding their conduct and progress in the visits.
  • Responsible for tracking statistical data for assigned clients, continual data quality, and input of services and goals as directed. 
  • Ensures successful execution of standards, policies and procedures of confidentiality, and programming focused on empowerment and safety.
  • Works collaboratively as an integral part of the YWCA Victim Services team, offering guidance and support to other staff. 
  • Attends scheduled staff and agency-wide meetings.
  • Assists the Justice for Families Program Coordinator in special projects as requested and understands flexibility is a key component of the position.
  • Assures that confidentiality is maintained regarding all client information and agency proprietary information, including but not limited to record storage, organization, and maintenance in compliance with VAWA, HIPAA, and other confidentiality policies, laws, and requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent judgment, and the ability to work without close supervision.
  • Minimum education for this position is an associate’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field of study. Candidates with a high school diploma and 5+ years of experience may be considered. Lived experience relevant to this role may also be considered in lieu of educational experience.
  • Experience providing case management, trauma-informed, and trauma-responsive models.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Knox, Anderson, Roane, Blount, Sevier, and Loudon County resources and housing systems.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Requires skills and life experiences that indicate sensitivity to domestic and sexual violence and individuals with significant barriers.
  • Requires possession of organizational, numerical, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a benefit.

Compensation and Benefits 

Pay Information: $20/hour 

Schedule: Please note the schedule may vary based on program enrollment and client needs.

  • Primarily Tuesday through Thursday with possible weekend coverage
  • 15-20 hours weekly 
  • Days and hours vary; Consistent evening hours expected.
