The Role

Currently operating in over 15 markets, readers can stay up to date with the latest culturally-relevant news and developments on men’s fashion.


The editorial team at Hypebeast is in search of a Junior Video Editor to help support our growing editorial video department. The Junior Video Editor should possess at least 1 year of professional editing experience, with an eye toward growing their editing career path. They should be able to easily adapt to HYPEBEAST creative processes and be a valuable contributor to weekly and daily original video output for social channels. The Junior Video Editor will also contribute to ideation and weekly brainstorming sessions.  The ideal candidate will be adaptable to changing and growing needs of the editorial video department. 

Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify industry trends.
  • Editing social, branded, and editorial video.
  • Contributing to creative team brainstorms and content goals.
  • Track deliverables through post-production.
  • Assist with rough cuts of midform and premium content.
  • Output regular social video cuts with minimal input from manager.
  • Able to be a jack-of-all trades in the editorial video department, filling in where necessary.
  • May occasionally be required to capture content with an iPhone and create content for social platforms.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of professional editing experience.
  • Eager to learn – Having a positive attitude and amenable to a variety of tasks in order to gain real-world hands-on experience.
  • Well-versed in Adobe Suite including Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
  • An understanding of basic narrative editing structure and pacing.
  • Comfortability enhancing videos with base-level audio editing and sound design skills.
  • Previous experience shooting on cinema cameras is a plus.
  • Comfortability with social-style event coverage and timely edit turnarounds.
  • Resourceful – Has the hustle in order to get tasks done in a timely manner, overcoming challenges along the way.
  • Autonomous – The ability to take direction, but needs little oversight to get the job done.
  • Indispensable –Someone who quickly and proactively makes their value known without ego, but rather based on merit and attitude.
  • Highly creative and proactive – Constantly looking for ways to improve his/her skills while staying on top of what’s relevant in the industry.
