The Junior Travel Budget Analyst will support the federal agency by managing budget formulation, execution, and financial reporting. This role ensures compliance with federal guidelines, optimizes financial processes, and supports travel reimbursement operations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in government budgeting and travel expense management.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process employee travel reimbursement requests by company policies and government per diem rates, ensuring all expenses are supported with appropriate documentation (e.g., receipts, travel itineraries, approvals).
- Verify that claimed expenses align with pre-approved travel budgets and allowable costs.
- Support the development, tracking, and monitoring of budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and federal regulations.
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc budget reports, analyze expenditures, and recommend corrective actions to maintain fiscal control.
- Serve as a liaison between departments, providing clear financial guidance, documenting processes, and making recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
- Must have a BS/BA in Business, Finance, Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or government finance.
- Experience with Concur or similar expense/travel software.
- Familiarity with federal budget cycles, policies, and travel regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial databases, and automated budgeting tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
