SMX is seeking a Junior System Administrator to support NAVAIR/NAWCAD 7.2.4 at Patuxent River NAS. This is a position that provides a great opportunity for growth.
As the Junior Systems Administrator, you will:
- Operate and maintain all production, test, and development systems in a Windows environment.
- Perform system administration activities to include account management, monitoring and management of system resources (CPU, memory, disk, etc), monitoring and auditing system logs, back-up and recovery, continuity of operations, security, managing operating systems, and storage management.
- Test and install Operating Systems, COTS and GOTS upgrades/patches, Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) consistent with security, information assurance, and established change control requirements.
- Operation and management of multiple Virtual Machine environments, with basic troubleshooting.
- Support a data center environment (HW and SW) to ensure maximum availability for customers.
- Maintain server operating systems, COTS, and GOTS software at the versions required
- Assist with creating and maintaining documentation to support the testing, installation, operations and maintenance of data center equipment.
- Support basic Active Directory tasks; maintain users and groups; resetting passwords and unlocking objects.
- Perform Microsoft Server 2016/2019/2022 builds and secure the systems following DOD DISA STIG requirements. Ensure devices are scanned with ACAS and EvaluateSTIG.
Required Skills and Experience
- Clearance Required: Secret
- On site requirement: 5 days/week in Patuxent River, MD (for the first 2-3 months, then two days/week beyond that)
- 1-3 years of relevant experience with Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022
- Experience with the following:
- Windows 10 Workstation
- Microsoft Active Directory
- VMWare vCenter
- LAN/WAN IP networks.
- Security+ certification
Desired Qualifications
- Scripting and/or Powershell experience to automate tasks
- ACAS experience
- Experience with EvaluateSTIG/STIG Checklists
