GAMA-1 Technologies, LLC seeks a detail-oriented and motivated Junior System Administrator to support the administration, maintenance, and monitoring of IT systems and infrastructure in a remote environment. The Junior System Administrator will assist with the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation of systems under the supervision of senior administrators, ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity and operational standards. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals beginning their IT careers. The role offers exposure to enterprise IT operations, cybersecurity compliance, and system administration in a mission-driven federal setting.

Essential functions/responsibilities

- Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of Windows and Linux servers, applications, and related components.
- Support user account creation, permissions, and access management within Active Directory and other directory services.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity using standard tools and dashboards.
- Perform routine updates, patch management, and basic system maintenance tasks in accordance with agency security requirements.
- Help maintain system documentation, configuration records, and asset inventories.
- Provide support for end users, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Assist with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) procedures under supervision.
- Participate in security scans and compliance checks, ensuring adherence to federal and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with network, security, and cloud teams on technical support and system improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Respond and document cloud application issues escalated by Tier 1 resources or captured by cloud monitoring tools.
- Off-Hours Support: Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours or weekend support.
- Continuously monitor cloud activity, usage, performance, cost, and security using cloud monitoring tools and technology.
- Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve application performance issues, escalating as needed to resolve more complex issues.
Information Security and Confidentiality Obligations
- Ensure adherence to organizational information security policies and procedures; actively participate in mandatory security awareness training; and manage confidential and sensitive information in accordance with company protocols and data protection standards.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 0-2 years of experience in in IT support, help desk operations, or system administration.
- Foundational knowledge of Windows Server, Linux systems, and networking fundamentals.
- Basic understanding of federal IT compliance and security frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow technical procedures accurately.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
- Understanding of networking protocols, LAN networking, and WAN networking.
- Ability to evaluate networks and systems to make sure that they perform reliably and to anticipate new requirements as organizations’ needs change.
- Able to explain technical concepts and processes to non-IT workers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or academic experience supporting federal or enterprise IT systems.
- Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Linux Essentials or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
- Experience working with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) or cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.

- This work will be completed in a remote environment.
Physical demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's and client facilities.
