Job Description

From September 2026, become part of the Sustainability team and help drive the implementation of our strategic roadmap across the company. Our team is formed by dedicated professionals who are passionate about sustainability, data integrity, innovative communication, and fostering SMG’s community with a strong sustainability focus.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to support our Sustainability efforts at SMG group level:

  • Support the management of SMG’s sustainability and GHG data by collecting, validating, analysing, and consolidating information from multiple stakeholders, ensuring data quality and alignment with the GHG Protocol and other relevant reporting frameworks. 

  • Contribute to maintaining SMG’s emissions inventory and decarbonisation initiatives by tracking climate-related KPIs, monitoring progress towards net-zero commitments, and supporting sustainability disclosures. 

  • Maintain sustainability and GHG documentation, ensuring data sources, methodologies, assumptions, and supporting evidence are accurately recorded and  available for reporting and verification.

  • Collaborate proactively with internal teams and data owners to collect, validate and resolve sustainability data, coordinate follow-ups, and monitor progress against reporting timelines and sustainability objectives. 

  • Support sustainability initiatives by coordinating stakeholders, tasks, timelines, and resources to meet objectives on time.

  • Support sustainability-related communications, and internal engagement activities

  • Support sustainability reporting activities during peak reporting periods contributing to sustainability disclosures in line with applicable frameworks and stakeholder expectations. 

  • Stay up-to-date on sustainability trends, best practices,  regulations and disclosure framework

Qualifications

  • You have a degree in economics, business administration, sustainability management, environmental sciences, or a related discipline, and you have gained exposure to corporate sustainability, climate-related topics, ESG reporting, and greenhouse gas accounting. 

  • You have a genuine interest in sustainability and are informed about evolutions in the broader sustainability/ESG landscape (both regulatory and in business). 

  • You have practical experience supporting ESG reporting processes or sustainability-related data work, and are familiar with frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, GRI Standards, and TCFD

  • You demonstrate ownership, initiative, and proactiveness, with the ability to independently manage tasks and drive progress on sustainability-related topics, including sustainability data and reporting processes. 

  • You have a strong attention to detail and enjoy working with data, maintaining high standards of data quality and documentation. 

  • You communicate clearly across diverse audiences, follow through reliably, and help maintain alignment across different teams. 

  • Experience or interest in automation, AI-enabled reporting tools, or data validation processes is considered a plus. 

  • You are a team player and enjoy collaborating with others 

  • Fluent in English, German is a plus.
