MET International AG (METI) was established in 2010 in order to consolidate and develop MET Group’s international natural gas sales and purchase portfolio, as well as to establish a trading arm for commodity lines.
METI is responsible for providing highly competitive supply structures to its gas and power sales affiliates, optimizing its power generation assets, managing the LNG portfolio, and trading around international positions.
We are looking for a Junior Power Originator to support wholesale power origination across Europe. The role focuses on structured power transactions including BESS tolling, PPAs, bespoke offtake solutions and structured products as well as the internal deal life-cycle management and connecting stakeholders across the departments of MET International and MET Group’s wider Sales & Trading Segment.
Job Description- Support the origination and execution of structured power transactions across the covered markets, contributing to the desk’s commercial activity and performance
- Support the senior originators in directly & indirectly building and maintaining relationships with IPPs, developers, utilities and other market participants
- Prepare term sheets, indicative pricing, internal approvals deal summaries and product pitches in coordination with the Power Desk
- Maintain and develop the origination pipeline in the CRM, ensuring opportunities are tracked and progressed in a timely manner. Prepare and present reports relying on the CRM system
- Work closely with trading, risk, legal, operations and credit teams to support transaction structuring, negotiation and implementation. Support product on-boarding and related internal project-management
- Monitor market developments, identify commercial opportunities and contribute to market analysis relevant to origination strategy
- 1-3 years relevant experience in European power markets, ideally in origination, trading, structuring or a related commercial role
- Good understanding of wholesale power market fundamentals and the commercial drivers of structured energy transactions
- Strong commercial mindset with solid analytical skills
- Ability to get up to speed quickly, manage multiple workstreams and maintain momentum across a live pipeline with limited day-to-day guidance along clearly set objectives
- Drive to grow into a client facing role and build own network and deal pipeline over time
- Willingness to travel 1-2 days per week on average as the coverage of the role grows
- Fluent English is required; additional European languages are an advantage
