Junior Associate – Accounting Officer Job Summary The Junior Associate – Accounting will support the Finance and Data Management function by assisting with day-to-day financial operations, bookkeeping, financial reporting, budget tracking, compliance documentation, and administrative finance processes. The role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional with 1–2 years of accounting experience who can maintain accurate financial records, support internal controls, and contribute to the organization's financial efficiency and accountability. The ideal candidate should possess strong numerical skills, a high level of integrity, proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced consulting and project-based environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Record Keeping & Bookkeeping * Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all company transactions. * Record income, expenses, invoices, receipts, and payments in the accounting system. * Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records, receipts, contracts, and supporting documents. * Assist in maintaining the general ledger and reconciling financial accounts. Accounts Payable & Receivable * Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payment of approved expenses. * Prepare payment schedules and support the processing of supplier and consultant payments. * Monitor outstanding receivables and support follow-up on client payments. * Maintain accurate records of creditors and debtors. Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management * Conduct periodic bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly. * Assist in monitoring company cash flow and maintaining petty cash records. * Track and report daily, weekly, and monthly financial transactions. * Support cash management activities to ensure operational efficiency. Financial Reporting & Analysis * Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. * Generate routine financial summaries and management reports. * Support budget monitoring and variance analysis across projects and operational activities. * Provide relevant financial data to support decision-making and management reviews. Budgeting & Project Finance Support * Support the preparation and monitoring of organizational and project budgets. * Track project expenditures against approved budgets and funding allocations. * Assist project teams in ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines. * Provide financial documentation and reports required for donor-funded and client-funded projects. Compliance & Audit Support * Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures. * Support statutory compliance activities, including tax documentation and regulatory filings. * Assist in preparing documents required for internal and external audits. * Support the implementation and monitoring of financial controls and risk management practices. Payroll & Staff Expense Administration * Assist in payroll preparation and verification processes. * Review staff expense claims and reimbursement requests for accuracy and completeness. * Maintain payroll and staff financial records in line with company policies. Data Management & Financial Systems * Maintain financial databases and accounting software records. * Support data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality across financial systems. * Generate financial reports and dashboards as required by management. * Contribute to process improvements that enhance financial efficiency and reporting accuracy. Administrative & Organizational Support * Provide administrative support to the Finance and Data Management unit. * Participate in finance-related meetings and prepare relevant documentation when required. * Support procurement and asset management processes from a financial documentation perspective. * Carry out other finance, accounting, and administrative duties as assigned by the Finance and Data Management Lead or Management. Qualifications & Requirements * Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Banking and Finance, or a related field. * Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software. * Basic understanding of financial reporting, bookkeeping, budgeting, and taxation. * Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills. * Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. * Membership or progress toward professional accounting certifications (ICAN, ACCA, ANAN) is an added advantage. Reporting Line Reports To: Finance and Data Management Lead Location: Abeokuta, Ogun State (with occasional travel as required) Employment Type: Full-Time Experience Level: Junior Associate (1–2 Years Experience)

Skills Required
