Junior Art Directors at SlideGenius play a pivotal role in bridging hands-on design execution with emerging creative leadership. They support Art Directors in project scoping, design reviews, and workload management, while also guiding designers through feedback and quality control. With strong attention to detail, design expertise, and a growing aptitude for leadership, Junior Art Directors act as leaders within the team and help ensure projects meet both client and SlideGenius standards.

While they do not manage direct reports, Junior Art Directors are expected to demonstrate initiative, ownership, and adaptability—developing the skills needed to advance into a full Art Director role, including client-facing communication, project oversight, and creative strategy.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Art Direction

·         Brainstorm, suggest, critique, and demonstrate design and layout concepts that exemplify SlideGenius design standards.

·         Support Art Director and team operations, as needed, to translate written or recorded client communications into actionable design direction.

Client Communication (Written Only)

·         Draft professional, well-structured client communication to clarify design direction.

·         Support discovery activities through written correspondence, reviewing recorded calls, and internal pre-design planning.

Design Facilitation

·         Conducts thorough quality control reviews of designer outputs for delegated projects, before client delivery, ensuring art direction is followed, brand standards are upheld, and client expectations are met.

·         Guide and mentor designers to uphold high creative standards, ensure client satisfaction, and achieve optimal project outcomes.

·         Exhibits true team player qualities and versatility, addressing Designer clarifications, as needed, to the best of their ability.

Design Execution

·         Provide design support during periods of high demand or capacity overflow.

·         Act as lead designer on select projects identified by an Art Director.

·         Execute art direction with strong visual impact by correctly applying design principles and adhering to brand guidelines.

·         Maintain accurate project files, version control, and uploads to SharePoint.

Project Operations

·         Support Art Directors through proactive execution of project scoping and quality control tasks.

·         Contribute to hitting team KPI goals, especially those related to design quality and delivery timelines.

·         Participate in daily scrums and leadership meetings to support team progress and project priorities.

·         Update internal time and project tracking software accurately and consistently.

·         Participate in project/account/portfolio reviews and brand resource development/maintenance to support team operations.

·         Stay current with internal communications, creative updates, and workflow changes.

·         Practice critical thinking and creative problem-solving to address project challenges.

Team Development

·         Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including project managers, sales, training and development personnel, and fellow creatives.

·         Provide constructive feedback and guidance to designers, helping to elevate creative output.

·         Support design team development, including tasks for internal feedback and contributions to designer performance reviews.

·         Contribute to regional or team events, fostering a strong and connected creative culture.

·         Uphold all company protocols, workflows, and quality standards through best practices and professional conduct.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

·         Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret and clarify client direction.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint with a strong grasp of advanced presentation design features.

·         Competence in Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Illustrator and Photoshop).

·         Strong understanding of core design principles like layout, typography, color, hierarchy, balance, and visual storytelling.

·         Experience working within established brand guidelines and adapting to various industry styles.

·         Ability to provide structured design feedback and perform quality control reviews.

·         Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to prioritize multiple projects effectively.

·         Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

·         Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.

·         Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to shifting priorities.

·         Enthusiasm, innovation, and a professional, positive attitude.

·         Demonstrated leadership potential, including mentoring junior designers or guiding peers.

·         Experience within an agency or creative services environment strongly preferred.

NICE-TO-HAVES (Growth-Oriented):

·         Experience preparing project estimates or assisting with scoping.

·         Exposure to client communication or support in creative discussions.

·         Prior leadership experience, even informal (e.g., leading review sessions, coaching peers).

·         Familiarity with project management workflows or tools.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

 

·         Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, related to Graphic Design.

·         3-5 years graphic design experience.

·         Minimum 2 years of experience designing presentations in PowerPoint.

        ·        Prior experience in creative services, design studio, or agency environment is strongly desired.
