O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington, CT seeks a Junior Accountant to join our team. We are a highly respected leader in our field and ranked as one of the top construction firms in the Northeast.

The Junior Accountant will support day-to-day accounting and finance activities, assist with month-end close, prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, and provide financial reporting support. This candidate should have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including accrual accounting, the purchase and sales cycle, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and cost of goods sold.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including account reconciliations, schedules, and variance analysis
  • Support preparation of financial statements and related reporting packages
  • Maintain fixed asset records and prepare depreciation schedules
  • Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns and related reports
  • Assist with bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, and financial support as needed
  • Research variances, resolve accounting discrepancies, and support continuous process improvement
  • Provide administrative and accounting support to the finance team as needed

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or general ledger experience
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and basic financial reporting concepts
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting month-end close
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with accounting systems
  • Experience with JD Edwards or QuickBooks is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to research issues, solve problems, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
