General Position Overview:  The Jr. High Worship Leader will oversee the scheduling, preparation, and leading of worship within the Jr. High Ministry. The Jr. High Ministry Worship Leader understands that they are a face of leadership in the ministry to both the staff and the kids.  

This is a Part Time,  8-10 hour per week position.

Ministry Responsibilities:

Ongoing: These responsibilities are items to be attended to weekly. These are the first priority for time management. 

  • Worship Set Up
    • Responsible for making sure that the general set up and tear down for worship at Jr. High Ministry weekly events (TNL, Sunday Service) is completed.
    • Assemble a team of volunteers to assist where applicable.   
    • Set-up for TNL and Sunday service includes but is not limited to the following:  Microphones, guitar, keyboard, drums, lights etc.
    • Special Events – Communicate with the Junior High Pastor to see if there are any specific needs.
    • Print out music for worship teams on a weekly basis.
  • Worship Scheduling
    • Schedule worship team using Planning Center Online.
    • Stay in constant contact with the volunteer worship team to keep them informed and encouraged about what is going on in the ministry.  
    • Keep Planning Center up to date with volunteers scheduled at least a week before the planned service. 
    • Find replacements if members of the worship team are unable to attend.
  • Worship Leading
    • Disciple volunteers on the worship team through teaching biblical ideas of worship.
    • Frequently encourage and teach students about the importance and meaning of worship during congregational worship.
    • Lead worship for Jr. High Ministry and oversee the rehearsals before the services.
    • Build up the knowledge and understanding of what worship is through meetings with the Jr. High Worship Team.
    • Build a relationship with Worship Pastor to grow in knowledge of worship leading, develop best practices, and address issues that arise.
  • Monthly Meetings
    • Meet monthly with the Junior High Pastor to discuss Jr. High Ministry and participate in future planning for worship in Student Ministries as a whole.
    • Meet monthly with primary worship leaders to discuss Jr. High Ministry and participate in future planning for worship in Student Ministries as a whole.
  • Email
    • Check WACC email account to stay in the loop of all Whittier Area Community Church activities.

Short Term Goals:  Spend at least 2 hours a week on Short Term Goals. These are items specifically designated and assigned during meetings with the Jr. High Pastor. These would be second priority after weekly assignments.  Short Term Goals would include any projects less than 2 months out.  

EXAMPLE – Next Generation Worship Night planning

Long Term Goals:  Spend at least 1 hour a week on Long Term Goals.  These are items specifically designated and assigned during meetings with Jr. High Pastor.  These are the last priority items to be taken care of.  Long Term Goals will address projects that have a completion date of 3 to 6 months out.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual maturity and a close daily walk with Him, including a vision for the area of your ministry consistent with our mission statement.
  • Be committed to the theological stance of the WACC, Converge Worldwide and supportive of the ministry of the Southwest District.
  • Ability to effectively interact with staff regarding areas of responsibility. 

Working Church Staff and Volunteer Relationships:

  • Report directly to the Junior High Pastor.
  • Participate in meetings, worship services, retreats and conferences as requested by Supervisor and/or the Senior Pastor
  • Participate in Senior Pastor designated “all-in” church wide events (i.e.: Easter, Christmas, VBS, etc).
  • Be actively involved in WACC church life (i.e.: attend Sunday services, participate in a Grow Group, and/or volunteer in its ministries).
  • Be informed of and function within the guidelines outlined in the WACC Employee Handbook.
