We are seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team in building and scaling our next-generation automated translation and localization platform. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering and product teams to integrate state-of-the-art AI/LLM models and machine translation engines into our enterprise content-processing ecosystem.
You will design and implement high-performance microservices, event-driven pipelines, and robust APIs to support global media expansion, multi-language publishing, and real-time content delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlatform Development: Develop and enhance core translation services and backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
AI & LLM Integration: Integrate cutting-edge AI/LLM translation capabilities and direct LLM/machine translation provider APIs into our content processing infrastructure.
Optimization & Evaluation: Support direct integrations with translation providers; continually evaluate and improve translation quality, system scalability, cost efficiency, and latency.
API & Event Pipelines: Build highly available, reliable REST APIs and Kafka-driven asynchronous pipelines for processing high-volume content and translation tasks.
Operational Excellence: Implement end-to-end monitoring, logging, error handling, retries, automated testing, and validation mechanisms for complex translation workflows.
Scale & Performance: Drive performance tuning and architecture enhancements to handle increasing translation volumes seamlessly.
Production Support: Assist with production deployments, CI/CD pipelines, system monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure platform stability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional engineering teams, product managers, and key stakeholders on technical design, system architecture, code reviews, and documentation.
Global Expansion: Contribute to the long-term evolution of the platform to support international expansion, additional languages, and diverse content formats across major media brands (including WSJ and international outlets).
Core Backend: Proven expertise in Java and Spring Boot for building scalable RESTful APIs and enterprise microservices.
Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other major public cloud environments.
Event-Driven Architecture: Experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems for event-driven architectures and streaming pipelines.
AI / Translation Tech: Experience integrating LLMs, AI APIs, or Machine Translation (MT) technologies and multilingual content workflows.
Software Engineering Practices: Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, integration, e2e), code reviews, and Agile methodologies.
Communication: Excellent technical communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English.
Prior experience building or maintaining content management platforms (CMS), digital publishing systems, or media workflows.
Experience evaluating LLM prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or MT quality estimation metrics (e.g., BLEU, COMET).
