For a European Institution in The Hague, we are currently looking for a Technical Java Architect with experience with cloud deployments, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, and network engineering.
Candidates need to be willing to work 1 week per 6 weeks on-site in The Hague, the Netherlands after Covid-19. Candidates need to be fluent in English. A work permit is required.
EU Candidates need to be fluent in English. This position is also open for contractors, who would like to commit long-term.
Due to corona, the start will be remote. As soon as the situation allows it, the role will become partly remote and 1 week on-site in The Hague, The Netherlands.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Complete the pertinent Design Document(s) for software development and maintenance;
- Execute implementation of a high-quality solution that is aligned with the architecture standards and high-level architecture requirements;
- Monitoring of application logs to identify and react to exceptions which were not reported as an incident;
- Commit code to GitHub (or any other relevant) code repository, as well as migration of code repositories when requested;
- Setting up test environments for SC2, SC3, and SC4 maintenance issues;
- Investigation and, if applicable, correction of issues detected in test and production environments;
- Configure pipelines to run necessary checks to allow for code basic validation;
- Provide full documentation as defined in the Technical Conditions;
- Knowledge transfer for systems to be included in the scope of the service;
- Package software according to the requirements and latest guidelines;
- Activities related to CI/CD deployment in the context of the Cloud-native Architecture;
- Assist the DevOps team in the installation of the software;
Profile:
- Bachelor or Master degree;
- Hands-on experience with cloud deployments, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, and network engineering;
- Experience with: Python and/or Java, XML, and XSLT; RESTful APIs and messaging services (e.g. Kafka); Linux/ distributions and/or Kubernetes deployments; CI/CD pipeline building tools (GitHub, Apache Maven, Jenkins);
- Knowledge of software development on a Kubernetes platform, network policy servers, Load Balancers, deployment strategies, and cluster security;
- Ability to write Java code and MongoDB/SQL queries;
- Good knowledge of non-functional testing;
- Preferred experience with source control management (such as GitHub);
- Experience with React user interface with Content management systems such as Drupal is beneficial;
- Ability to train and coach technical staff;
- Previously worked with search tools and systems is an advantage;
- Knowledge of reporting tools such as ServiceNow;
- Broad knowledge of system integration;
- Fluent in English;
