Job Description

The IT Support Specialist position requires strong technical support skills. This position serves as a primary technical resource supporting all associates at the Austin, Texas Sales Center. This associate provides support for basic issue resolution under the guidance of senior team members. The focus is on technical troubleshooting skills along with good customer service. Candidate must be able to clearly communicate with end users as well as have a solid understanding of operating systems (Windows/MAC), telephony systems and basic networking concepts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational support for end user platforms:
    • Assist The ODP Corp. associates and contractors with support for Windows Operating Systems (Win10, Win11), iOS and Android mobile devices, desktops, laptops, and basic Macintosh support.
    • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and facilitate hardware replacements.
  • Make hardware recommendations as needed for purchasing in line with corporate standards
  • Assist in local IT/Business Capital projects as deemed required for Austin Call Center Operations. May act as local IT project lead based on project and exp[erience level of associate.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and identify core issues/patterns:
    • Work with senior team members to resolve issues and provide input to Engineering for further investigation.
    • Conduct research and assist in resolving escalated issues within the respective End User support area.
  • Assist in training and Meeting/Event support:
    • Ensure training facilities are set up and operational for all training sessions.
    • Participate in meeting and event support activities according to assigned roles.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for:
    • Windows and MAC operating systems.
    • Basic system policies and registry setup.
    • Basic networking troubleshooting.
    • Computer imaging and replacement
    • Telephony support
    • Assist with implementation of software and security settings as requested
    • Position also requires after hour availability (On Call) or weekend support as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Level of Formal Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Area of Study: Computer Science, Management of Information Systems
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in related field
  • Type of Experience:
    • Microsoft MCP or equivalent work experience with Windows 10/11.
    • VMWare 6.0 or above certification preferred
    • Strong understanding of IT-related systems; implementations, operations, and support
    • Experience in using different testing tools, scripting and automation. For example, PERL Visual Basic
    • Excellent technical knowledge of application networking, firewalls, load balancing applications, databases, operating systems (Linux and Windows) and ensuring fault tolerance for applications, CCNA + preferred.
    • Experience and ability to reverse engineer systems for troubleshooting & lab certification.
  • Special Certifications: MCP, MCSE or Equivalent, A+/N+/S+ or CCNA or above
  • Technical Competencies:
    • Maintains a detailed knowledge of current best practices and emerging trends within the technical architecture and application development arenas. Maintains awareness and understanding of relevant emerging infrastructure technologies and works with team members on deployment & support of those technologies.
    • Act on own initiative and awareness of market conditions and technical innovations to provide solutions to problems before they occur.
    • Documentation of standard SOPs and preventative maintenance routines.
    • Serve as a credible advisor to business partners on the use of current and future technologies for optimal impact on current and future business strategies and results to include owning technology roadmaps within Call Center Operations
    • Participate in creating or expanding relationships with major vendors, suppliers, regulators, or other critical external organizations
