Job Description
BAE Systems Inc. is seeking an IT Specialist to join our dynamic team of engineers, technologists, and military veterans. This position will be located in Wallops Island, VA working at the U.S. Navy's Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC). SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS and Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.
The selected candidate is responsible for supporting engineering operations, maintenance, and (third item) for SCSC's research, development, testing, and evaluation networks. Candidates will provide daily support to the SCSC by planning, implementation, delivery, and testing of computing infrastructure. Responsible for cybersecurity best practices and implementation of DoD instructions. Candidates will drive improvements to existing infrastructure and standard operation procedures in accordance with SCSC's digital strategy.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Minimum education and years of relevant/related work experience required: Associate's degree in a relevant/related field or at least 2 years of relevant experience (equivalent experience may be substituted for the degree). Experience cabling, installing, testing, and delivering IT assets. Knowledge and experience in implementing defense industry cybersecurity practices.
Security clearance requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance. If selected candidate is not in possession of an active Secret clearance, then he/she will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Security+ Certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
• LINUX basic course
• Windows OS knowledge (desktop and server)
• Knowledge of databases to include MS SQL
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to translate complex ideas and express them in concise, simple to understand ways
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
• Network management tools: Splunk, SolarWinds
• Automation: Powershell
• STIGs, Steelcloud

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $56200 - $95500
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
