About the Role
The IT Software Implementation Project Manager plays a critical role in leading the successful delivery of enterprise software solutions for insurance customers. This role owns the full project lifecycle—from initiation through post-production support—ensuring high-quality solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, while meeting customer business objectives.
Acting as the primary liaison among customers, business stakeholders, product teams, technical resources, vendors, and executive leadership, the Project Manager drives initiatives that transform insurance operations and improve customer outcomes. This includes leading implementations across policy administration, claims management, billing, underwriting, self-service portals, agent/broker platforms, and regulatory compliance systems.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, communication, and risk management skills to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage complex data migrations and system integrations, and guide projects through testing, go-live, and stabilization phases, all while building lasting relationships with insurance industry clients.
Essential Job Functions
• Lead end-to-end implementation projects for insurance software platforms, developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
• Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while establishing project governance, reporting structures, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for insurance customers, building strong relationships with executives, business leaders, and IT stakeholders.
• Facilitate project kickoffs, requirements workshops, status meetings, steering committees, and executive reviews.
• Coordinate software configuration, customization, integration, testing, deployment, and production support activities for insurance solutions such as policy administration, claims management, billing, underwriting, and broker platforms.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, driving resolution of escalations and conflicting priorities.
• Manage change requests, ensuring proper impact assessment, governance approvals, and maintenance of risk registers, issue logs, and decision logs.
• Lead cross-functional teams including business analysts, solution architects, developers, QA teams, data migration specialists, and infrastructure/cloud engineers.
• Oversee migration of policy, claims, billing, customer, and financial data, and coordinate integrations with third-party and enterprise platforms.
• Manage testing phases including SIT, UAT, and performance testing, and lead cutover planning, go-live execution, and post-implementation stabilization.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience managing enterprise software implementation projects.
• 5+ years of experience delivering customer-facing technology projects.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale software deployments and system integrations.
• Experience managing geographically distributed teams and stakeholders.
Other Qualifications
• Preferred experience in Life and Annuity Insurance, Property and Casualty Insurance, Health Insurance, or Reinsurance.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• PRINCE2 Practitioner certification.
• Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification.
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
