Due to our growing ICT infrastructure and its complexity, we are looking for an IT Operations and Infrastructure Principal Engineer.

You will be a part of the team responsible for ICT infrastructure operations, involved in maintaining, implementing and architecting complex IT infrastructures - servers, storage and networking. Your position is not only behind the office desk - sometimes you’ll have to get your hands dirty and find your way with the hardware in the data center. You will be responsible for implementing complex infrastructure projects - from ones used for building our infrastructure to IT operations supporting services. You will closely interoperate on various projects with other teams (DevOps/Security/…), supporting their operations on the infrastructure side. You’ll have an opportunity to work on exciting projects and solve problems within the large and complex infrastructure - scaling to 100s servers, 1000s VMs and PBs of storage.

Key responsibilities

  • systems design and implementation - design scalable, reliable and secure systems to support our organization's operations and business objectives, with a focus on practical, hands-on implementation
  • infrastructures design and operations - design and implement complex, open-source based, efficient infrastructures leveraging hands-on experience to ensure optimal performance, resource utilization, reliability and scalability
  • automation and orchestration - develop frameworks and automation strategies to streamline system provisioning, configuration management and deployment processes; using your hands-on expertise in scripting languages and infrastructure-as-code (IaC)
  • monitoring and alerting design and implementation - design and implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems to timely and proactively identify and address performance issues and security vulnerabilities, ensuring the systems integrity and availability
  • incident response and disaster recovery design and implementation - design and implement incident response and disaster recovery architectures, including root cause analysis, incident response procedures, and disaster recovery plans in order to minimize the impact of disruptions and ensure business continuity.
  • best practices and compliance standards implementation and utilization
  • In time, lead a small team of IT engineers
Requirements
  • bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in systems architecture, infrastructure engineering, or related roles, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex, distributed systems in enterprise environments
  • skilled in Linux and K8s environments
  • expertise in system architecture principles and best practices, with a deep understanding of hardware, storage, networking, virtualization, data center operations, security, and automation, demonstrated through hands-on implementation and maintenance
  • experience with regular data center operations - design, planning, implementation and maintenance
  • hands-on experience with hardware selection, procurement, deployment, and maintenance within data center environments
  • solid understanding of networking concepts, including protocols, segmentation, routing, switching, firewalling, ...
  • proficiency and hands on experience in virtualization platforms
  • proficiency in scripting languages for automation and orchestration
  • hands-on experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools and principles
  • excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to architect and troubleshoot complex issues in production environments
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence technical decisions at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in leading small teams maintaining data center infrastructure
