Purpose/ Mission:
The IT Manager is responsible for establishing, managing, and developing the overall Information Technology (IT) function for Meranti Green Steel Oman (MGSO). This role will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's IT infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, applications, and digital solutions to support business operations, project development, and future plant operations in Oman.
The IT Manager will act as the primary IT lead for the Oman business, working closely with corporate teams, external service providers, and business stakeholders to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions are in place to support the company's growth.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Strategy & Governance
- Develop and implement the IT roadmap and technology strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Establish IT policies, procedures, standards, and governance frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, cybersecurity standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage the annual IT budget and expenditure plans.
IT Infrastructure & Operations
- Establish and maintain all IT infrastructure for the Oman office and future operational sites.
- Manage corporate networks, internet connectivity, servers, cloud services, storage, and communication systems.
- Ensure system availability, reliability, and business continuity.
- Oversee IT asset management, software licensing, and hardware lifecycle management.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Develop and implement cybersecurity controls and best practices.
- Monitor and manage cybersecurity risks, vulnerabilities, and incident response activities.
- Ensure appropriate backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans are in place.
- Lead cybersecurity awareness initiatives across the organization.
Business Systems & Applications
- Manage business applications and digital platforms used across the organization.
- Support implementation and administration of ERP, HR, Finance, Procurement, Document Management, and collaboration systems.
- Work closely with functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and digitalization.
- Ensure system integrations and data integrity across business applications.
Project & Operational Support
- Support project teams with technology requirements during project development and execution phases.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of IT systems required for future plant operations.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, procurement, and corporate teams to deliver technology solutions supporting business growth.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Manage relationships with IT vendors, consultants, service providers, and telecommunications companies.
- Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and performance management activities.
- Ensure service providers meet agreed service levels and business requirements.
User Support & Service Delivery
- Establish and oversee IT support services for all employees and contractors.
- Ensure timely resolution of IT issues and delivery of high-quality user support.
- Develop IT service management processes and performance metrics.
Budget Planning & Cost Management
- Develop and manage the annual IT budget, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational requirements.
- Prepare short-term and long-term forecasts for IT-related expenditures, including hardware, software, infrastructure, cybersecurity, licenses, and external service providers.
- Work closely with Finance to ensure timely budget planning, cost control, and resource allocation.
- Evaluate and recommend cost-effective technology solutions while maintaining operational efficiency and security.
- Monitor IT spending and ensure all expenditures are managed within approved budgets.
Team Leadership
- Build and develop the IT function in Oman as the organization grows.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage IT personnel and external support resources.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and customer-focused service delivery.
Corporate & Regional Collaboration
- Act as the primary IT representative for MGSO and coordinate closely with corporate teams and external stakeholders.
- Support group-wide IT initiatives, digital transformation projects, and technology standardization efforts.
- Provide regular reports and recommendations to management regarding IT performance, risks, and future requirements.
- Support the CEO in all relevant tasks where requested.
Requirements/ Skills/ Experience:
- Experience establishing and managing IT functions within industrial, manufacturing, construction, energy, or large-scale project environments.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, enterprise applications, and network administration.
- Experience managing IT vendors, budgets, contracts, and technology projects.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and enterprise business applications is preferred.
- Experience working in multinational organizations and start-up or greenfield project environments is highly desirable.
Required Education/ Qualification/ Training:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of IT experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
