What You Will Be Doing
We are seeking a Field IT Engineer for an onsite position in Pompano, Florida. Candidate must be flexible to travel to multiple job sites. This is an excellent opportunity for a person with outstanding communication, time-management skills, and a superior knowledge of computer software/hardware diagnostics and IT infrastructure setup/ maintenance.
As a Field IT Engineer, you would be responsible for installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of all computing and network equipment and maintaining the integrity and security of our network and telecommunication systems. You will be part of the Global IT function, which is responsible for Global IT Technical Support, Vendor Management, Asset management, IT procurement, IT Project Management.
Essential Job Functions
- Install, operate, and maintain computer, network, and telecommunications systems in ONX factories and data centers.
- Execute upgrades, modifications, and configurations of communications systems and associated infrastructure.
- Work collaboratively with the Global IT function to contribute to various aspects, including technical support, vendor management, asset management, procurement, and project management.
- Ensure proper documentation of all installed systems and configurations.
- Ensure the integrity and security of the network and telecommunication systems.
- Participate in the full project life cycle, from planning to completion.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to project planning and execution.
- Work with a variety of systems, including LAN/WAN technology, land and RF communications platforms (satellite, VHF/UHF, microwave systems), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and fiber optics.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of VOIP/POE devices, such as IP Phones and CCTV Cameras.
- Perform installation, operation, and maintenance of AC power distribution grids, emergency power generators, transformers, automatic voltage regulators (AVR), and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC).
- Hands on experience with CAT6, CAT6A crimping, cable management, patch panel installation, PDU and rack mount devices.
- Identify network issues related to DNS, DHCP, and Radius Server.
- Apply troubleshooting skills for Meraki configuration and resolve related issues.
- Provide basic understanding of software installation and end-user support on both Windows and Mac platforms.
- Support conference room/meeting room equipment and ensure its proper functioning.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Technical degree preferably in a STEM discipline e.g. Electronics and Communications Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Computer Network Systems, Computer Science or related field.
- Or, equivalent relevant civilian or military experience (minimum of five (5) years documented experience) in the following areas: Installation and maintenance of network infrastructure in an IT enterprise, Electrical/Electrician Trades, Data network installer or Applied Science for Electrical Technology
- At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds when supporting installations or special requirements ex UPS.
- Ability to climb ladders, stoop, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
- Strong team player, able to work independently and closely with other professionals.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic or difficult work conditions during assignments.
- Strong desire to develop, learn, and grow professionally and personally.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to various ONX locations.
