Are you ready to gain hands-on experience in IT infrastructure and support? Evolv Technology is seeking an enthusiastic IT Infrastructure Intern to join our dynamic Cybersecurity and IT Engineering team. This internship will provide you with the opportunity to work on real-world projects, learn from experienced professionals, and contribute to the enhancement of our IT services.
This internship is a 10 week program: June 9nd – August 15th
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes you will work toward completing?
- In the first 5 weeks, you will:
- Understand Evolv, our products and culture, what we do, and why we do it
- Learn the technology solutions currently in use, and those being implemented at Evolv
- Become familiar with Evolv’s network architecture
- Plan and document an ISP service and core network migration from one physical location to another
- Define success criteria for the service migration
- Become part of a team
In the last 5 weeks, you will:
- Coordinate and execute ISP service and core network migration
- Assess the overall project and evaluate outcomes against success criteria
- Present project process and outcomes to Evolv leadership
- Have a better idea of what you want or don’t want out of your career
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
With support of the IT Engineering team, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, execution of a major IT project.
- In 2 weeks, be comfortable with the team and existing network and server infrastructure.
- In 4 weeks, understand the dependencies between networks, systems, and user communities.
- In 6 weeks, have a documented plan with coordination from stakeholders to execute the project.
- In 9 weeks, have completed the project
- In 10 weeks, present a clear analysis of the overall project, what went well, and what areas could be improved in the future
Team Engagement/Teamwork
- Actively participate in team meetings to stay informed about ongoing projects and goals.
- Take the time to learn about team members' roles, strengths, and areas of expertise to foster collaboration.
- Build confidence in reaching out to any team member for support, guidance, or feedback to strengthen team connections.
Communication
- Effectively coordinate with external stakeholders to ensure smooth planning and execution of ISP circuit relocations, minimizing disruption to operations.
- Establish regular communication touchpoints with the IT team to align on priorities, share updates, and address challenges collaboratively.
- Focus on clear, concise, and proactive communication to bridge gaps between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Development
- Invest time in understanding the intricate technical and operational dependencies between various systems, networks, and stakeholders to support seamless operations.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices to enhance technical knowledge and adaptability.
- Apply technical insights to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement across systems and processes.
Problem-Solving
- Leverage creative thinking and a problem-solving mindset to develop innovative solutions for complex challenges.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and recommend new tools, processes, or strategies that drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Approach challenges with curiosity and an open mind, considering multiple perspectives to deliver the best outcomes.
Project Management
- Take ownership of managing large-scale projects, overseeing timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation to ensure successful completion.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to align project objectives, resolve bottlenecks, and maintain momentum.
- Utilize project management tools and methodologies to track progress, mitigate risks, and deliver high-quality results on time and within scope.

You will be joining the IT Engineering team and reporting to the Director of Cybersecurity & IT Engineering with day-to-day supervision by the Senior IT Engineer

Where is the role located?
The location of this role is based in Waltham, MA with some flexibility in being remote some days. We require our interns to be onsite at a minimum, 3 days of the work week. We do not provide relocation assistance at this time.
What is the pay range?
The hourly pay range for this internship position is $20-$27 an hour. Our pay ranges are determined by your current level of education.
