General Summary: As an IT Data Engineer Intern, you'll contribute to the development and maintenance of our data pipelines and infrastructure. You'll work alongside experienced data engineers, gaining hands-on experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, data warehousing, and related technologies. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to learn and apply data engineering principles in a real-world setting.
Primary Responsibilities and Competencies:
- Build and Maintain Databases and Data Warehouses
- Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines.
- Help with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Support the maintenance of data warehouses and data lakes.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation.
- Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Contribute to data quality assurance and data validation processes.
- Document data engineering processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers and analysts to support their data needs.
- Learn and apply best practices for data storage, processing, and security.
- Assist in the implementation of cloud-based data solutions (Azure).
Required Education, Experience and Certification:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science or Information Systems, or a related field
- Basic understanding of database concepts and SQL
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python
- Basic knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes
- Experience with cloud computing platforms ( Azure).
- Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBi)
- Familiarity with scripting languages.
- Experience with data pipeline tools.
