The IT Cloud & Artificial Intelligence (AI) Security Architect is responsible for establishing and governing Oceaneering's security architecture strategy for Microsoft Azure, cloud platforms, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. This role serves as the cybersecurity subject matter expert for AI adoption, cloud security architecture, and data protection, ensuring security, regulatory compliance, and business enablement are embedded into emerging technologies.
Role provides the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, working both virtually and in the Houston office when required.
Essential
The architect partners closely with Data Sovereignty, Data Governance, Data Stewards, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Legal, Privacy, and Business stakeholders to define secure AI usage, establish guardrails for cloud and AI technologies, and develop reference architectures that enable innovation while protecting company information.
This role acts as a trusted advisor and thought leader, helping Oceaneering safely accelerate the adoption of AI and cloud technologies through secure-by-design principles, governance, risk management, and architectural standards.
AI Security Governance & Strategy
Develop and maintain the enterprise AI Security Reference Architecture.
Partner with the Data Sovereignty and Data Governance teams to define secure AI adoption patterns.
Create, maintain, and govern AI security policies, standards, and acceptable use requirements.
Establish approved AI use cases and review new AI capabilities, platforms, and technologies.
Serve as the organization's AI security advisor and thought leader.
Monitor evolving AI regulations, cybersecurity threats, privacy requirements, and industry best practices.
Provide architectural oversight for Generative AI, AI agents, machine learning platforms, and AI-enabled SaaS solutions.
Define guardrails for the secure use of enterprise and public AI systems.
Data Security & AI Enablement
Work closely with Data Stewards and business stakeholders to classify, protect, and secure enterprise data used by AI systems.
Define security requirements governing how AI solutions access, process, store, and transmit corporate data.
Assist data owners with identifying, consolidating, protecting, and preparing data for AI consumption.
Ensure AI solutions align with enterprise data protection, privacy, sovereignty, retention, and compliance requirements.
Develop approved architectural patterns for AI access to sensitive, confidential, regulated, and intellectual property data.
Cloud Security Architecture
Serve as the lead cybersecurity architect for Microsoft Azure cloud security.

Act as a trusted advisor to technical and business teams regarding AI and cloud security.
Provide education and guidance on secure AI adoption and cloud security best practices.
Influence strategic technology decisions through architectural leadership and risk-based recommendations.
Present security architecture guidance and recommendations to leadership, governance committees, and project teams.

QualificationsRequired
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Minimum 8 years of experience in cybersecurity, cloud security, security architecture, or related disciplines.
Minimum 5 years of experience designing and securing Microsoft Azure environments.
Demonstrated experience developing enterprise security architectures, standards, and governance frameworks.
