About the Role
The IoT Developer will work within the Factory of the Future/Industry 4.0 team to support the digitalization strategy for MML across their respective region. This individual will be responsible for managing the network of systems from Operational Technology to cloud technology in conjunction with developing and implementing digitalization initiatives across MML divisions. This role will also be responsible for the digitalization of production lines and on-premises infrastructure.
Your Responsibilities

  • Develop new techniques to connect legacy equipment to modern infrastructure.
  • Manage code deployments, fixes, updates and related processes.
  • Create IoT applications that run on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Support creation of technical guidelines, standards and templates for digitalization projects to be scaled across the MML group.
  • Support the creation of an OT architecture for MML divisions.
  • Interface with corporate and support divisions to implement digitalization projects.
  • Receive and provide training to divisional teams related to digitalization.
  • Develop KPIs, metrics, and other monitoring tools to track I4.0 production environments.
  • Familiar with source control tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub).
  • Familiar with cloud architecture.
  • Ability to write code to interact with UNS services.
  • Provide detailed specifications to proposed solutions including materials, external services and internal resources required.
  • Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise during testing and production.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Act with honesty and integrity and make ethical business choices in accordance with Magna's Compliance Policies and Procedures.


Your preferred qualifications
EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Security, Information Systems, or equivalent proof of baseline knowledge.


EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years experience in software development.
  • Experience with programming languages (ex. Python, C#, JavaScript, C++).
  • Recommend best practices for building secure and reliable applications.
  • Brainstorm new ideas and ways to improve development and delivery.
  • Experience with databases and different types of data storage.
  • Good understanding of IoT, security, communication protocols (MQTT), UNS (Unified Name Space).
  • Familiar with PLC programming in Siemens and Rockwell controllers, among others.
  • Familiar with Robot programming is a plus.
  • Familiar with SCADA software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of industrial IoT sensor connectivity, data acquisition and data historian software.
  • Knowledge of different project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile.
