Team & Role Overview
The Putnam Investments Content team develops and positions equity investment perspectives and strategies that support business growth and client engagement across global audiences. The team partners closely with investment leadership, including the Chief Investment Officer, Director of Research, portfolio managers, and analysts, as well as business development, marketing, and corporate communications teams. The environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and intellectually rigorous, offering exposure to senior thought leaders, complex markets, and opportunities to deepen investment knowledge and influence firm-wide messaging.
The Investment Writer is responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and compelling content to help drive the business and convey Putnam’s messaging across marketing platforms and distribution channels. The Investment Writer will develop and maintain content to support Putnam’s global business development activities, with a focus on company and product content that is tailored for use in RFPs and client due diligence requests. As a member of Putnam’s Content team, the Investment Writer works in close collaboration with global sales and client service, product managers, data teams, legal and compliance, and other internal business partners, to consistently meet client requirements and deadlines.
How You Will Add Value
Develop and maintain core content, across Putnam’s range of equity strategies, for use in RFPs, DDQs, and consultant database platforms. Ensure content is accurate, consistent, and aligns with Putnam’s broader messaging.
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) firmwide to ensure that all qualitative and quantitative information is up to date, differentiated versus competitors, and tailored to institutional and intermediary audiences. Stakeholders include but are not limited to RFP writers, client service, client portfolio managers, operations, legal, compliance and distribution teams.
Help oversee the implementation of product updates, launches, and investment management changes.
Assist other members of the Putnam Content team in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual updates to marketing materials, including pitchbooks, product commentaries, and other collateral as needed.
What Will Help You Be Successful in This Role
Experience, Education & Certifications
3–5 years’ experience as a writer in the asset management industry, with demonstrated expertise developing investment product content for use in RFPs/DDQs and other external client-related requests
Excellent project management and organization skills, able to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, as well as familiarity with Seismic and Qvidian (or equivalent content database system).
First-rate verbal and written communication skills, plus strong proofreading skills.
Excellent research and analysis skills, thorough in following issues to a successful conclusion.
Meticulous attention to detail across all aspects of data, language and grammar, and general layout and presentation.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally at all levels of seniority and across multiple cultures.
Flexible and adaptable, ability to adjust to changes in workflow and succeed in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Broad product knowledge across equity investment styles (or experience/education to develop this knowledge quickly) is highly desired.
Bachelor’s degree required.

Compensation Range: Franklin Templeton offers employees a competitive and valuable range of total rewards—monetary and non-monetary — designed to support their well-being and recognize their time, talents, and results. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $95,000 to $130,000, plus an annual discretionary bonus, depending on location and level of relevant experience.
