As the Investment Controls Analyst, you will report into the Investment Controls Manager and be responsible for investment control monitoring and the oversight of trade execution and outsourced dealing activity. This includes monitoring of dealing activity, ensuring that that QIL’s fund are being managed in line with regulatory and product specific investment restrictions, that trades are being executed in a timely manner and that QIL’s funds are receiving best execution.
As a highly regulated function, the role requires effective oversight of all regulated activities, particularly around UCITs restriction, best execution and market abuse.
Trade Compliance
Monitor and record investment related breaches, ensuring systems and tools are correctly coded and will be fundamental in the design of controls to ensure we have a robust first line of defence for investment activity in line with regulatory and any other restrictions or guidelines.
Engage with the product team supporting agreement on investment restrictions and ongoing management
Provide Portfolio Managers/CIO with guidance including providing support regarding investment controls such as for major portfolio rebalances or fund mergers.
You will need to build relationships with key stakeholders including compliance, and external parties such as delegated managers and the depositary on investment control matters.
Dealing Oversight
Daily oversight of dealing activity including overseeing execution of trades outsourced to Northern Trust as well as CIS trade implementation
Oversight that internal and outsourced dealing activity is in compliance with best execution policy requirements and the policy remains aligned with regulatory expectations and industry practice.
Product & Business Change
You will represent Investment Controls on business initiatives, change and enhancements e.g. new product launches
Portfolio Implementation (Support)
Provide support to the Portfolio Implementation team as required, in relation to the implementation of trading strategies for QIL’s funds and Model Portfolio Service (MPS) rebalancing activity across platforms, including FNZ
To be successful in this role you will be someone who has previously worked in an asset management investment controls team with a knowledge of FCA/UCITS/NURS regulatory requirements and rules who may be looking to move into a more investment change focused role.
You will have up to date experience with monitoring and reviewing investment guidelines and restrictions in an order management system for example ThinkFolio, Aladdin or Charles River (full system training will be provided so we have no preference on what systems you have expertise in). As you will be joining a multi-asset team you will need to have a good working knowledge of Collective Investment schemes and Investment Trusts - knowledge of derivatives would be advantageous, but not essential.
You will have experience in working accurately under time pressure and the ability to re-prioritise tasks as the requirements of the investment desk change intra-day/week/month.
You will have be able to demonstrate times where you have taken change initiative and developed tools or processes that have built efficiencies and decreased operational risk in your current role.
