The Investigative Reporter is responsible for delivering accurate, engaging, and compelling news coverage across broadcast, digital, and social media platforms. This position develops original enterprise and investigative stories while contributing to daily news coverage and anchoring responsibilities as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research and develop original enterprise and investigative story ideas.
- Report, write, shoot, and edit news stories for television, digital, and social media platforms.
- Conduct interviews and verify information to ensure accuracy, fairness, and journalistic integrity.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with community contacts, public officials, and confidential sources.
- Respond to breaking news and changing newsroom priorities while managing long-term investigative projects.
- Collaborate with producers, photographers, assignment editors, and newsroom leadership to develop compelling content.
- Maintain an active digital and social media presence to promote stories and engage audiences.
- Represent the station professionally at community events and public appearances.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must have 2-4 years of experience with on-air reporting and anchoring
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong news judgment and organizational skills.
- Ability to write in a clear, conversational style under deadline pressure.
- Knowledge of broadcast journalism principles and ethics.
- Proficiency with digital and social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, if required for the position.
