General Summary:

Under the supervision of a Technical Team Lead and/or the Manager, Application Development, the Development Intern will work closely with developers, quality analysts, and business analysts to help build brand new tools and enhance existing tools to automate day-to-day operations and facilitate and expedite testing efforts. The Development Intern will possess a general knowledge base on both the Microsoft .NET development platform as well as with HTML and CSS. The Development Intern will participate in design discussions with the technical team leads and will develop a broad knowledge and understanding of all supported product systems.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize sound Test-Driven Development practices ("red/green/refactor").
  • Utilize appropriate testing approaches when dealing with legacy code.
  • Remain informed of supported product team features and functionality. This includes attending product team meetings as appropriate.
  • Follow and help refine programming standards, best practices, coding styles and other development guidelines.
  • Participate in code reviews.
  • Take an active role in daily team meetings.
  • Contribute substantially to the team goals as set by the Manager/Director, Application Development.



Experience:

  • Helpful experience includes:.NET Framework/Standard/Core, HTML, CSS, Angular



Skills and Abilities:

  • Understands basic Internet and client/server architectures.
  • Understands how various issues affect each other and the outcome of projects.
  • Highly collaborative, openly seeking and sharing information across teams and departments.
  • Accurately prepares written business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional and engaging.
  • Competent communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Exposure to MS Project.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and cutting-edge development environment.
