Internship Program at WM
We at WM are grounded in our People First commitment which is reflected in our culture and values. Our Internship Program at WM is a 12-week paid program focused on supporting your education with experiential learning. As a WM Intern, you will interact with and conduct various duties and responsibilities for one or more functional teams to develop new skills and learn new areas of the business. Interns gain practical experience, relevant to their field of study, prior to college graduation.

The WM People Organization has a student work opportunity, specifically within the Corporate Talent Acquisition function. This individual will partner with the Talent Acquisition team to support our diversity initiatives. WM TA is looking to expand its Good Faith Effort by continuing to develop meaningful and long-term relationships to achieve a "world class" strategic diversity framework.

Example Deliverables:

  • Research and Partner with national and regional diversity organizations.
  • Develop Good Faith Effort catalog.
  • Create Good Faith Effort framework to support Talent Acquisition teams.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide a consistent approach across all of Total Talent Management.


This position will be located at our Corporate Office in downtown Houston, TX.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by location.

  • Uses problem solving skills to determines problems and understand fundamental parts of the problem.
  • Conducts analysis as directed and prepares and delivers insights and recommendations based on analysis.
  • Synthesizes findings and draws conclusions from analyses and makes oral/written recommendations to supervisor and/or manager.
  • Executes tasks related to functional projects and/or process improvements.
  • Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.



Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • Education: Interns must have a high school diploma or GED (accredited) and be pursuing a bachelor's degree (accredited) in a field of study relevant to the internship. Completed Course Work Hours: 60.0
  • Experience: No prior work experience required.



Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements:

  • Must be available to participate in the 12-week internship program from start to finish (Jun 1 - Aug 19, 2022)
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week/standard working hours
  • Must have completed at least one year of college and be enrolled as a college student in the fall of 2022



Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Ability to work efficiently and independently while maintaining attention to detail
  • Able to be flexible and adapt to changing situations while remaining positive
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
