The Position

Intern - Investigation and Resolution

The Summer @ Roche Intern Program has been developed to provide students with a fun yet rewarding summer through hands-on experience and numerous opportunities to network with other interns as well as employees in the organization. Additionally, we help our students meet their career development and educational goals while potentially building a future with the Roche organization. Summary

Intern that performs reagent-based or assay-based investigations to determine root cause and finds appropriate solutions to resolve on-market product issues. Scope includes primary stains, advanced staining reagents, special stains, and bulk reagents used for automated H&E, IHC (immunohistochemistry) and ISH (in-situ hybridization) applications. Collaborates with a technical team of 4 to 8 individuals within an Agile framework. Develops and drives a work culture committed to compliance, quality and customer focus.

Program Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university during program calendar year 2022
  • Completed at least 2 years of college/university to be eligible for the program.
  • Must have a ≥3.0 GPA. Please attach a copy of your transcript in order to be considered for this internship opportunity.
  • Minimum availability of 12 weeks.
  • Previous experience in the job duties listed, either through course work or industry/academia
  • Participation in student organizations and/or other leadership experience


Responsibilities

  • Conducts reagent-based or assay-based investigations and resolution projects in alignment with business and compliance needs.
  • Contributes to the technical execution and timeliness of CAPAs/NCRs and on-market support (OMS).
  • Executes bench experiments; makes detailed and general observations and analyzes data.
  • Contributes to technical reports, summaries and quantitative analyses.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records.
  • Works on extremely complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables.
  • Prepares and presents experimental procedures and results in group and project teams.
  • Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote Quality First Time.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing BS/MS/PhD Degree in Biology/Chemistry/Biochemistry or related field (last year into BS Degree or pursuing advanced degree (MS/PhD) is preferred)


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knows wide range of experimental techniques and skilled in their applications.
  • Capable with searching scientific literature to gain general and specific information.
  • Skilled with use of word processing, spreadsheets, graphical and presentation.
  • Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories in chemistry, biochemistry and biology.
  • Excellent time management, planning, organization and problem solving skills.
  • Strong verbal, written communication skills. Ability to prepare and present information to groups.


Given the current uncertainty of the global pandemic and work from home situation for 2021, the majority of internships are currently planned to be virtual with the option for interns to work remotely from within U.S. Borders. Internships that operate in business critical roles, such as Operations and Research & Development may require you to work on campus. We will keep candidates informed if this changes.
