The Role
Owns international tax compliance coordination for fund structures across Germany, Austria, the UK, and the US. Responsibilities include coordinating external advisors, reviewing tax deliverables, managing compliance calendars, preparing investor tax communications, overseeing FATCA compliance, advising on transaction tax matters, and supporting international tax structuring. The role requires deep German partnership-tax expertise, strong international tax knowledge, accounting awareness, and professional fluency in German and English.
Summary Generated by Built In
Allocator One Group: is a global investing platform redefining how institutional capital reaches private markets. We operate through two synergistic businesses:
* Allocator One backs exceptional first- and second-time fund managers around the world as an anchor investor, effectively acting as “seed-investor + platform” for emerging VC funds.
* Infra One, our fund-ops and tech arm, provides the regulatory, administrative, and tech infrastructure that allows those new funds to scale rapidly and globally. We are already live and serving customers in the UK, US, Austria, Germany and launching Singapore, India and Luxembourg imminently.
Together, we deliver both the capital and the structure fund managers need—and in doing so build a global ecosystem of platforms, people, and ideas that reshape private markets.
Why this role is different:
Unlike an advisory firm role, you will have end-to-end ownership of a real fund platform - seeing transactions from structuring through to LP reporting. You will work directly with investment and finance teams, help build the tax function from the ground up, and have meaningful exposure to four jurisdictions and a growing international investor base. This is a role for someone who wants to go deep on fund taxation rather than broad across multiple client mandates.
This Role:
This is a senior individual contributor role covering the full international tax compliance coordination for our fund platform across all four jurisdictions - Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. While your core expertise and primary ownership sits in the German and Austrian tax landscape, you will coordinate external tax advisors across all jurisdictions, act as the internal tax expert for our finance and investment teams, and ensure seamless, timely compliance across the entire platform.
This is not a tax return preparation role. You are the internal owner of the tax compliance process - you coordinate, review, challenge and ensure delivery.
Tasks
Germany & Austria (primary ownership):
* Own the end-to-end tax compliance process for all German and Austrian fund structures, including GmbH & Co. KG funds and affiliated carry vehicles
* Coordinate external tax advisors in Germany and Austria; prepare documentation packages and critically review their output
* Manage the German individual investor tax assessment process for Fund-of-Funds structures
* Prepare and review investor tax letters for German and Austrian LPs
* Ensure timely OeKB publication (Austria) and submission to German tax authorities
* Review and instruct Mehr-/Weniger-Rechnungsposten; provide accounting guidance to the finance team on tax-related journal entries
UK & US (coordination and oversight):
* Coordinate external tax advisors in the UK and US; prepare documentation packages and review output
* Monitor and track UK and US compliance deadlines (SA800, CT600, Form 1065, K-1, ERS filings)
* Serve as the internal point of contact for UK and US tax matters, escalating technical issues to external advisors and flagging risks to management
* Coordinate investor tax reporting for UK and US fund structures, including tax letters and LP reporting schedules
Across all jurisdictions:
* Build, maintain and own the global tax compliance calendar across all funds, vehicles and jurisdictions
* Coordinate FATCA compliance
* Advise the accounting team on tax aspects of complex transactions including portfolio company dividends, distributions, exits and restructurings - in plain business language
* Handle ad hoc tax queries from LPs, management and other stakeholders - with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly and practically
* Coordinate international tax structuring projects alongside external advisors
Requirements
Must have:
* Degree in Tax Law, Business Law, Finance or equivalent
* 5 - 8 years of experience in a Big Four firm or specialised tax advisory practice, with a clear focus on fund or partnership taxation
* Deep expertise in German Personengesellschaftsbesteuerung, in particular GmbH & Co. KG structures
* Strong experience with transparent partnership structures used as investment vehicles including carried interest, waterfall mechanics and LP reporting
* Solid grounding in international tax law: tax treaties (DBAs), withholding taxes, ATAD, CFC principles, cross-border dividend and distribution flows
* Experience working with international investors (institutional LPs, family offices, DFIs) and preparing investor-facing tax communications
* Ability to explain complex tax matters in plain business language - to non-tax colleagues, investors and management
* Pragmatic, structured approach to work; strong project management and prioritisation skills
* Fluent in German and English - both written and spoken at professional level
* Strong accounting awareness; ability to translate tax conclusions into booking instructions
Nice to have:
* Steuerberaterexamen (completed or in progress)
* Knowledge of UK or US fund structures (LLP, LP, LLC taxation)
* Austrian tax knowledge (UGB, KStG, EStG)
* Familiarity with ERS reporting or US partnership tax (Form 1065, K-1)
* Working knowledge of CRS/FATCA reporting obligations
Benefits
What we offer:
* Senior individual contributor role with direct exposure to a multi-jurisdictional fund platform
* Full remote working flexibility - Austria, Germany, UK or US based
* Direct reporting line to Head of Fund Finance with close collaboration with senior management and investment team
* Competitive compensation
* Opportunity to shape and grow with a fast-expanding international platform
Why Allocator One Group:
* Ownership: Design the entire fund accounting system from scratch. Your architecture will serve 20+, 50+ funds.
* Team building: Hire and mentor fund accountants and treasury specialists as the platform grows.
* Learning curve: Exposure to global fund structures, cross-jurisdictional tax, and institutional investor reporting.
* Strategic impact: Fund accounting data directly informs investment committee decisions and platform risk management.
* Equity upside: Early-stage role with meaningful equity; directly tied to platform success.
