Summary
This role is a member of Rainier’s Seattle-based international small/mid-cap investment team and reports to the fund’s portfolio manager. The position will be a generalist research analyst, meaning you are expected to research investment opportunities in numerous industries and geographies. The fund seeks to identify companies with sustainable competitive advantages. We are looking for companies with improving fundamentals and growth opportunities that are under-appreciated by the market.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain quantitative models and screening tools for interpreting analytics to identify performance and investment characteristics by strategy and investment idea generation.
- Model and monitor macro and micro indicators for major economies and sectors worldwide.
- Perform onsite visits with companies of interest for research purposes.
- Attend industry conferences for research gathering.
- Participate in conference calls with senior management at companies of interest and for those who are in current portfolio holdings.
- Participate in conference calls with sell side analysts.
- Work closely with trading desk for international strategy trade execution.
- Execute regular fund performance evaluation and prepare commentary on same for use in communication and marketing.
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in broad based international equity research
- Strong quantitative, statistical and analytical thinking skills
- Excellent presentation and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree Finance or Economics required
- CFA & MBA desirable
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; with strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Working knowledge of Factset, StarMine, Bloomberg & Thomson One is a plus.
- Ability to succeed in a small team while multi-tasking and managing multiple functions.
- Self-starter with high energy and initiative.
- Overtime and some travel will be required; flexibility is a must.
