The Role

The role is about:

An Internal System Administrator & Automation specialist who owns the architecture, hygiene, and automation of our internal systems—primarily Jira, Confluence, and the wider Atlassian ecosystem.
This role exists to eliminate process debt, reduce manual operational work across departments, and ensure our internal tooling is scalable, auditable, secure, and aligned with how the business actually operates.

Acting as a technical owner and internal consultant, this role translates business needs into efficient workflows, automations, and system integrations that enable teams to move faster with confidence.

Reporting to: IT Operations Lead

What you will do:

  • Own and redesign Jira architecture, including project schemas, workflows, permission structures, fields, transitions, and performance optimisation
  • Lead full-lifecycle administration of the Atlassian Cloud suite (Jira, Confluence, JSM)
  • Audit and clean up existing Jira environments to eliminate process debt and ensure audit readiness
  • Build and maintain advanced automations using Jira Automation and ScriptRunner Cloud
  • Design and maintain system integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, and middleware
  • Integrate Jira with internal and external systems (Slack, BambooHR, HubSpot, GitHub, Google Workspace)
  • Translate business requirements into scalable Jira workflows, dashboards, and reporting structures
  • Act as an internal consultant to multiple departments on process design and tooling optimisation
  • Maintain governance over user access, permissions, and role structures
  • Perform regular system hygiene checks (users, projects, plugins, workflows, data structures)
  • Own documentation for workflows, automations, integrations, and system usage
  • Support compliance, audit, and reporting needs through clean system design
  • Manage Slack administration, including Slack-to-Jira integrations, notifications, and workflows
  • Oversee Google Workspace administration, data migrations, and cloud upgrades
  • Act as Tier 3 escalation for system-related incidents and perform root cause analysis
  • Continuously identify opportunities to automate and streamline internal operations

What we need:

  • 5+ years of hands-on Jira / Atlassian administration (Cloud or Data Center)
  • Proven experience designing complex workflows, permission schemes, and project architectures
  • Strong automation mindset with experience using Jira Automation and ScriptRunner
  • Experience auditing and restructuring Jira environments at scale
  • Strong experience integrating systems via APIs, webhooks, and native connectors
  • Hands-on scripting experience (ScriptRunner, Groovy, Python, or PowerShell)
  • Deep understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and system interoperability
  • Experience administering Slack at an enterprise level
  • Experience managing Google Workspace (GAM, SAML, APIs)
  • Ability to translate business requirements into practical, scalable system solutions
  • Strong attention to detail with focus on data integrity and audit readiness
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally across multiple departments

Nice to have:

  • Atlassian certifications (ACP)
  • Experience with Confluence knowledge management design
  • Experience evaluating and deploying Atlassian Marketplace apps
  • Familiarity with compliance or audit requirements in regulated environments
  • Experience supporting fast-growing or scaling organizations
  • Experience working in fintech or payments environments

Hiring Process:

  • Initial Interview – 30–40 minutes with Talent Acquisition to assess background, Jira experience, and role alignment
  • Hiring Manager Interview – 45–60 minute deep dive focused on Jira architecture, automation, integrations, and real-world scenarios
  • Final Interview / Practical Discussion – Scenario-based discussion or light practical review with IT leadership to assess ownership, communication, and technical depth
