Intern, Technical Writer

Overview

Work alongside our continuous improvement team and cross-departmentally to develop work instructions for precision assembly. Integrate written and visual media to enhance accessibility and user friendliness. This position offers a unique balance between solo office work and collaborative manufacturing floor work, utilizing technical and interpersonal skills. Our ideal candidate is a technical writing student looking to gain practical experience communicating complex processes clearly and concisely. LI-COR’s internship program is intended to provide students from diverse backgrounds with the opportunity to practice business skills learned in school while gaining work experience.

Semester

• Ability to begin work this summer and possibly into the 2025 - 2026 school year.

Professional QualificationsEducation

Must be a current student pursuing an undergraduate degree in English, Communication, Graphic Design, Journalism, or a closely related field.  A junior status or higher in college preferred.

Experience

• Prior experience in a manufacturing facility, research, or academic research setting is desirable but not necessary.

Position ResponsibilitiesSpecific

• Shadowing production assembly to assist in the creation of assembly documentation
• Work with technical writing team on adapting current instructions into manufacturing execution system (MES)
• Support our Lean Six Sigma improvement projects
• Own transfer and revision control of process documentation
• Assist engineers with a variety of documentation tasks

General

• Software training will be provided, as necessary.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
